2025-07-18 19:18:08 +0000 UTCThere is this interview that the voice actor for Maul did that perfectly describes the duel between obi wan and Maul that brings a lot more insight of the short fight. In the interview Sam (Mauls vc) says "the first thing that obi wan does is he does is his, you know sort of his kid self. He turns into Ewan McGregor for a second and then he takes a breath and goes, oh no no that was the mistake. That's the guy that fought in a war. We learned that was not the way to go. Mistakes were made back then. I'm actually Ben Kenobi. And he goes to the Alec Guinness pose (A new hope) and then he's like let's see if we can play the same trick on Maul. Then he assumes Qui-gon's pose. Thus queuing Maul to try the same move that got killed qui-gon. It's a very psychological game. And it all has to do with a huge misunderstanding on the part of Maul. He does not get what he's looking at. He does not understand it until he gets hit by the lightsaber. Then he's like, 'Oh, this is not a desert rat. This is a jedi master. He's a jedi master on guard duty. And if he's this good then this is the most important guard post in the galaxy." (I did had to look up the interview don't exactly remember word for word.) Your question about what would alter fate. Well let's say that will be revealed in due time. Just know this did delay the attack on Lothal just keep that in mind.
