2025-07-14 22:42:16 +0000 UTCI know probably a lot of people mention it but ya orgins based on the games Red and green(blue in US) and fire red and leaf green as well. They use a lot of video game lingo in this mini series too and in the shorts you watched before this show. The episode with red haired kid being geovonies kid happens in gold/silver/crystal games. Which sadly did not get a anime adaptation 😭 the closes we got was in another anime mini series but i forgot the name and it only had a couple episodes of the protagonists of silver/gold/crystal

2025-07-14 20:05:40 +0000 UTCThe dog one you were mentioning Bethany is Jolteon, it's a evolution of Eevee. Eevee is special because it has 8 different evolutions to choose from and they all have different requirements (to get Jolteon you need a thunder stone), I feel like you would like all of them! The big guy (Snorlax) is a very lazy pokemon that likes to sleep all the time but it can be suprising fast if it's serious lol. The laser eye move is called Hyper Beam, it usually comes out of the Pokemon's mouth but in this version they made it come out of his eyes for some reason (still pretty cool).

Remember that one episode where Looker was talking to a kid with Red Hair? Yeah, he’s Giovanni’s son. And our rival in Generation 2. He’s actually well regarded as having a character arc in the Gameboy era of all places. And he’s actually one of my favorite rivals.

2025-07-13 19:07:30 +0000 UTCGiovanni is the OG villain, and most likely my fav Pokemon villain in the entire series. This version of him is very sentimental though. If you guys don't remember from Pokemon Generations, Team Rocket was disbanded because of their defeat by Red and Giovanni's son is Silver, not Red. Granted this is most likely an alternate timeline, however the basic original lore is still followed on how things went down. in the Pokemon games, NPCs are classified and identifiable by their trainer classes, as you saw in previous episodes, Red ran into a "Super Nerd", in this episode you guys saw another trainer class called "Young Couple" and they are usually a lovey dovey couple in their teens or young adults, they challenge the player to double battles, there have been different variants of them throughout the generations. Usually an NPC's trainer class dictates their battle styles and what kind of pokemon they use, though it varies.

2025-07-13 19:04:57 +0000 UTCWhile I liked seeing Charizard in action, I wish the fight actually lasted longer and that Giovanni used more than 2 Pokémon. But I guess it’s a short series and they couldn’t linger on it for 1 whole episode. The next episode will definitely be worth the wait though.

2025-07-13 19:02:01 +0000 UTCWell this version of Giovanni stopped at least. Can’t really say the same for what’s happening right now. Because Pokémon has long established there being a multiverse. And guess what? A Giovanni from another timeline actually succeeded in being an evil overlord and caused havoc in Generation 7. So it’s up to us the players to take him and the other evil leaders down.

He recruited villainous Team Leaders from other regions from alternate universes where their ambitions were not stopped by the protagonist of their respective region. Definitely an all-star moment.
