Yeah, filming that intro was wild. Is ugly laughing a thing? Because I definitely ugly laughed 🤣 And well said about Frieren's character and the beauty of mortality!

Bethany and Ken

Oh, right! Frieren! I forgot.

you can still do verso's skills even with his lowest perfection. The higher grade perfection just gives u more damgage and bonus effects, plus his weapons can circumvent the grade-ing depending on how u want to play him

Some reminders from the prev eps if you guys don't remember; Flamme's dialogue were the first words you guys saw upon EP 1 starting and her exact words were recited in this episode in reference to Aureole. Fern was pouting when they mentioned taking a long time to search for the giant tree, as you saw in previous episodes, Fern dislikes it when Frieren wastes time since Frieren perceives time very differently than humans. The pouting is a common troupe/art style you see in anime, such as a singular sweat drop representing a variety of emotions like embarrassment, exasperation or confusion. The Legend of Korra, Avatar the Last Airbender, Teen Titans, and FMAB use these art styles. it's understandable why some reactions of characters confuse you as you don't see them often in western cartoon/animations, very different culture & themes. Also Frieren was making the grapes sour as she mentioned in prev episodes, it was one of her many useless quality of life spells that she spends time collecting throughout her life as a hobby; such as being able to polish statues and unrust them as she performed for Himmel's statue. Eisen mentioned in the prev episode that sour grapes are his favorite, the sourer the better. I'm sure Ken figured it out by now in this episode, but yes Frieren is NOT a morning person and she is very sloppy/irresponsible and that is why she was making those faces & reactions in previous eps since you guys were wondering why she had those reactions from before and just assumed she was just exhausted.

That beginning was legendary, if I were a content creator I promise my intros would start out like that all the time lol The more I watch this show, the more I begin to grasp Freiren's character, and it's an interesting perspective because usually we see stories of immortality (or living an extended life) as an ultimate goal of a character, or something they've always wanted, but in the perspective of Frieren, you live long enough to see things come and go, and you begin to become more detached from the world. Even though we hate the fact that we'll die someday, there's beauty in that we should cherish the moment and the little things, something that would be easily taken for granted if we were to live for thousands of years

I think he did Gecko Moria in One Piece as well if I'm not mistaken

To answer your question, the face Fern was making at 15:22 She was pouting (a common anime gag when a character is being adorable/immature) because she knew that they were gonna stick around way longer than necessary because Eisen and Frieren perceive time at a much more leisurely pace than humans due to their age.

And finally, we come to the main plot. The prologue is essentially over.

Good catch on the earrings. Frieren's earring are indeed the same ones that Flamme was wearing. Probably some magic involved since they've survived for a thousand years

Nyte's Halo

Especially in an apprenticeship.

Fun Fact: Eisen is voiced by Chris Guerrero, the same VA who voiced Cooler in DBZ Abridged and Lavender in DBS.

Remember that back in the day teachers were also a sort of guardian figure for who they taught not just a teacher as we would see them today
