I just wanted to give one small tip that might clear up a small misunderstanding. Of course, I always agree with play however you want to play, just bringing it up because knowledge is power. Everything you dodge can also be parried, the timing for parry is just smaller than dodge, it's the same timing of a perfect dodge. When a character shouts "Dodge" or "Parry it!", that's just kind of happenstance, they aren't actually saying it has to be parried or dodged, which I think does cause some confusion. The benefit of parry is that every attack that is successfully parried gives 1 AP and if a character parries every attack aimed at them, they will perform a counter attack, so parry has big rewards, just harder to pull off. I am loving the playthrough so far though!

Charlie Cox, that's who it is. Thank you, it's been driving me nuts that I couldn't place it. I probably should have looked it up but I just suffered in my ignorance until reading your comment.

Alright, now that I've caught up to ya'll, I had some notes for the road ahead: 1) Ya seem to have forgotten that you have a slew of items you can use during battle by pressing triangle. These will let you heal/gain AP so you don't have to waste AP on skills to produce the same effect. Might as well use them since they're you're reward for exploring more thoroughly. 2) Correct me if I'm wrong but ya haven't seemed to select the "check up on the others" option when checking the fire at camp. Selecting this option will let you view optional cutscenes that build upon the characters. 3) Might also be me missing something, but I think you forgot to talk to the Gestral at camp that's looking for the lost Gestral children. Each time you find one of the lost kids, he'll reward you.

I followed it closely as I knew this was going to be my game of the year, but mostly because I wanted to hear what Charlie had to say about working on a game like this, but the man never showed up. How can they get Andy Serkis to show up but not Charlie? Not even a glimpse of him in the booth.

I'm a bit surprised (and honestly slightly disappointed) you two didn't make any remark about Verso sounding like Clive here lol. I heard Ben Starr was in this game, but I didn't know ow which character. So when Verso began speaking, I was just like "Clive you've come to save us!" 😆. I recognized him immediately.

Based on what I've read from Jason's comment, I'm rather glad I didn't follow this game's promotion beyond the showings it had in Xbox Showcases. I admittedly had no expectations for Gustave's death. I never took the journal writings as the "writing on the wall" for whatever reason. I did notice that his skill tree was noticeably smaller than the other party members', but I kinda figured that was bc he was gonna get some sorta permanent power up during the story.

2:14:40 I love when games use this trope of having you actively fight against a battle you can't win. Makes you develop a deeper grudge against your enemy, and really takes advantage of the medium to tell the story.

Ah shit, here we go again...

Wasn’t expecting this playthrough but a welcome one. Without spoiling anything I will say that Ken will probably end up raging at some of the bosses 🤣

At least Gustave and Sophie can be together now. A nice foreshadowing is the picture painted in Lumiere of Gustave and Sophie together dancing.

So, yeah, I jumped ahead because I just had to see it. Since y'all weren't too aware or keeping up with Expedition 33, there were a lot of interviews with the voice cast. Unfortunately there wasn't a glimpse of Charlie Cox, the voice actor of Gustave. I always thought it was because he was too busy with Daredevil to be in interviews to hype up the game. Then as you're playing Gustave you notice that 80% of his skills are locked, and no matter how high you get none of them unlock. Meanwhile Maelle, Lune and Sciel all have their skills attainable. Also the repeat of "For Those Who Come After" after writing in your journal was the straw that broke the camel's back that we might lose Gustave. Then comes in Verso, voiced by Ben Starr, also known for voicing Clive in Final Fantasy 16, he's in every interview. Despite not really being prominent in the trailers, kept his role a secret, and didn't say much. Turns out he'll be the new Gustave. Can I just also mention that this was a great way to show that despite being the poster boy, having a celebrity dearly loved voice him, and being the prominent figure of the game, this game was never about Gustave. This game is about Maelle. Charlie Cox has gone on to say that he feels like a fraud, since he only spent about 4 hours in the booth. Meanwhile the others spent even more than that. He did a fantastic job and I wish he'd appear in even more games as he's got a great voice for voice acting. I keep forgetting he's British.
