2025-07-06 05:24:47 +0000 UTCI adore the way Negative Blake makes Negative Weiss pause and go "hang on you can't group me in with humans like that!" and not seeing the irony at all. Something that's a shame is how uncertain QNDM makes it in regards to "how much of Weiss is actually aware within Nega Weiss?" because she has those moments alone in her command centre where she shows concern and stress, and then here with Blake shows some worry for her, but then almost any other time it just feels like the Nightmare puppetting her. (Blake is at least solidly under Nightmare control, which could just be because she was willing)

She’s not used to finding someone as stubborn as her. “Yang, stand far away from Blake” – I’m feeling less and less sure about this plan! “This is fine” dog in the burning café meme really came to mind there when the house goes up in flames, lol. Jah, Nightmare Blake kinda rocks. This episode was nicely paced, with clear goals, and actually felt like the story was moving forward. As noted, the animation in general + the money shots were much more prevalent too. I wish the rest of the series had possessed this momentum, I would have enjoyed it more. It is definitely nice to see Blake stop holding herself back. I can imagine though how frustrating it had been to be treated badly as a faunus but then to be confused by Adam’s raw expressions of vengeance, spite, and power –she didn’t want to become him and overreacted in keeping herself in check because of her fear of becoming him. (After all, her fairy tale counterpart is The Beast – raw animal rage and instinct.) Weiss seems like someone taught prejudice at a young age without any reality to challenge those views, yet is open to education and new information, and also trusts her own observations that can lead to a change of heart. Some people are that ways; others aren’t; sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference, so the only way forward is to provide new experience and information and see how they respond.
