Final Fantasy 16 Playthrough Part 9

So we unfortunately saw this too late and did check out the xbox trailers which had a final fantasy one but thankfully it was a quick trailer and we really didn't understand all that we saw so I think any spoilers may have gone over our heads thankfully.

Listening to the chill playlist now, so keep asking for more specific feedback, but enjoying it so far! 🎶😁

Love this symbolism! 😍

2:55:56 This footage was probably recorded before I had shared the details on the flowers last week, but I'll be a bit more upfront now that you've seen more of the symbolism. The Wyvern Tails are very much meant to help visually represent the way a character holds everything that is the empire of Sanbreque. Its pride. Its army. Its people. The way that Olivier completely disregards the flower helps emphasize how much he does not care for these values. This is in complete contrast to Dion, who is literally carrying these things into battle on his chest.

If nobody's told ya, Square Enix's website sells plushes of Torgal both as a puppy and as an adult. Figured I tell ya since I've just gotten a notif that the adult Torgal has gone on sale, and it seems like something you may like. Though IMO these are way too expensive (even with the discount). Anyway, here you are. 39:30 In case you wanted to see the versions of Clive's conversations if you opted to take Gav instead of Otto and Jill instead of Tarja, someone was courteous enough to upload them here: Gav: https://youtu.be/MFUxzlqPVCY?si=__eRcCgWlzvfaIH3 Jill: https://youtu.be/dAlZoWq1FI0?si=YByRtev3_B7sLrKO

Just wanted to remind ya about the VGM playlists I made, and ask the questions I did last week: What did you think of what I included in the playlists? Any notes? Favorites? Ya can be honest, I'm no snowflake lol. Since Indie Cross was this week's WWW post, I guess I'll be working to add some music from the represented indies as a way of showing more appreciation for them. I'll also drop them again here for the sake of convenience. If ya haven't gotten around to listening to them yet, I completely understand. You two seem to be quite busy. So, over the past week there have been a couple of noteworthy announcements related to FF16. First, the game has finally released on Xbox, with FF7 Remake coming over later this year. Can’t say that I think this’ll really help the game sell too much more than it has since previous FF entries (and JRPG series in general) don’t tend to sell very well on Xbox. But hey, better late than never, I guess? Just don’t go watching that trailer. Several spoilers. Second, yesterday brought forth the reveal of “Logos: The World of Final Fantasy XVI”, an official lore book about FF16’s world and residents. The book features colorful illustrations and writing contributions from Ben Starr (Clive’s VA), Stewart Clarke (Dion’s VA), and Christopher York (Gav’s VA) to help bring their characters to life. Can’t promise if the book will be providing any insights/lore not featured in the game, but I’ll have my eye on it for ya. Though I should mention it’s only up for preorder on Sqaure Enix’s website at the moment, meaning you’ll have to deal with their shipping fee.

Guess this is probably the best place to provide a little bit more info on the recently announced FF Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles that ya saw from the State of Play reveals. As you saw last week, I had been anticipating its reveal prior to the event, as it had long been suggested to have been in the works in a Nvidia leak a few years ago. While the other FF related game from that same leak has yet to show itself, a lot of promo material has been heavily teasing it being revealed sooner than later. Anyway, about the game itself. While I can’t speak personally since I haven’t played it yet, FF Tactics is a Strategy/Tactical RPG that is highly praised as one of the greatest in its genre. It’s also said to hold one of the best stories that Final Fantasy has ever told. This upcoming remaster introduces revised graphics, quality of life improvements, and new difficulty settings. It also features brand new voice acting for the characters, one of which is voiced by Ben Starr (I told ya, I can’t fucking escape him). Might not be a bad decision to consider doing a cutscene journey for this game or maybe using it as your first TRPG if you’re feeling up to it. You seemed to view FF Tactics as just a quaint little pixel art retro game, but as a guy in his early 20s, let me be the one to say that shouldn’t be used as a measure of a game’s ability to tell a compelling story with intriguing characters. Sure, the visuals may not be as “cinematic” as modern-day games, but I think you two would be surprised what many older titles (and pixel art indie games) have been able to do despite that.
