Que The Rock eyebrow raise.

Thank you for this insight, and yes the series definitely hit a new gear from this episode on!

Bethany and Ken

Despite Anissa being super intimidating, a good amount of memes came from her. Specifically the scene of her stepping on Mark. “Step on me mommy,” “I wish I was Mark then,” “Harder.” People sure do love their fantasies.

Ash

April mentions Oliver being a quick learner multiple times to reestablish to the audience that Thraxans age faster.

"Wow Anissa is a very intimidating character! I wonder how she will tie into the story?" comic readers : (thousand yard stare)

This was the episode of season 2 that I was waiting to see your reaction as Mark just can't catch a break like Future Trunks or Gohan during the first half of Dragon Ball Z. For starters, I was genuinely scared for Mark when Anissa showed up out of the blue as anyone who has read the comics knows that her simply showing up is a bad omen of what is to come and his encounter with her showed us several key things. One is that Mark is still not strong enough to contend with some of the stronger Viltrumites in the empire, especially Anissa. She is one of the more powerful Viltrumites and while she is a ruthless warrior, she is different from the others as she prefers to negotiate and reason before using her fists, as she demonstrated with Mark to try and convince him instead of beating him into submission like how Nolan tried to do with him. She could have easily started killing people like Nolan, but she chose not to. This wasn't a fight, this was like disciplining a rebellious teen and could have easily killed Mark. This was also a reminder to Mark of the looming threat of the Viltrumite empire. Rick's struggle also hit on a personal level too, because I know what it's like to grapple with feelings of standing on the edge like that. This episode is where the series starts to get a lot more serious. Regardless, great reaction as always.
