Dragon Ball Daima 18 Full Reaction

Comments

Ahh yes the white knight, really saving the day hero!

REDE

I'm being 100% honest when I ask this. Why do you feel the need to add spoilers for future moments whenever you don't like something? I've seen you do it multiple times, for multiple series. You might not care about spoilers, but i know a lot of people do, and this is a reaction channel. Wouldnt it be better to see them react to it without knowing? I don't know what you like at this point I've only seen you say good things about invincible, and db super.

feltskate ._.

Incase you see my comment first just be careful because Rede has a spoiler for something you haven't seen yet.

feltskate ._.

When would Goku ever accept someone "Giving him the ability to access power"? He literally refused Elder Kai's ritual for the same reason, pride. But Daima has a fanbase of prepubescent children so continuity doesn't really matter i guess.

REDE

Nobody mentioning that Toriyama literally designed 0 new transformations. 3 was already existent and 4 wasn't originally designed by Toriyama. Bro literally just stole from himself and re released it, and fans said "OMG I REMEBER THAT FORM, 10/10!" Guess we won't be seeing ultra ego for a while. One more thing why tf are Goku's forearms bigger than his biceps? shit looks goofy af.

How did we ever survive before the instant gratification of streaming all our episodes as soon as we wanted to?!

Bethany and Ken

Thank you for trying to warn us all about spoilers so we could try an avoid them. Thankfully we did avoid spoilers regarding SSJ4 so was fun to see that introduced here. 🙂

Bethany and Ken

Which alone makes it non canon to super

Blake Hinton

Agreed Ken, THIS is the best episode of Daima yet!! And unfortunately, just like in episode 12, THIS was the other spoiler I was hit with prior to watching Daima with you guys, so while this wasn't too much of a shock to me, I did thoroughly enjoy watching how it all happened. GT's super saiyan 4 design will always be my favorite, but I really enjoyed this one as well. Sorry Bethany, what you just experienced is what many casual anime watchers have to deal with on a weekly basis, and funny enough One Piece is most notorious of this, getting to a hype or depressing moment in the episode, only to slap a giant "TO BE CONTINUED" sign in your face lmao

J Sal

Literally agree with everything you said here, 1000%! SSJ4 rocks!!!

J Sal

As you know a Namekian dragon is only as strong as its maker, the fact that the DR dragon flicked Gomah like an insect makes you question how strong Neva really is.

Cynergy

Low and behold canonized SSj4, this is Toriyamas take on the transformation. This transformation has always been my favourite SSJ form so you can imagine my excitement when this episode dropped, despite the many naysayers who didnt believe SSJ4 would ever be canonised. Stephanie did an amazing job with those SSJ4 screams, basically matching Seans SSJ4 voice which from what Ive heard is very difficult.

Cynergy

Oh yeah, little fun fact: From what I had learned from the animation breakdown from AnimeAjay, a YouTuber who covered the animation of each of DBS' and Daima's animation staff & production, the animator who handled SS4 Goku's upside down Kamehameha is the same guy who drew the fancy beam grinding Kamehameha Goku did to finish Kefla in DBS. Would've liked to point ya toward his videos on Daima, but Toei ended up taking them down due to him including internal design documents in his vids.

However I don’t think Daima is a perfect series and I can definitely understand why people don’t like the way that Goku unlocks the form and how it directly contradicts super but I’ll go more into depth on that at the end of the show.

seels

22:06 Oh believe me, he definitely wasn't the first.

JT

I'll throw my hat into the ring. Seeing SSJ4 again is indeed fan-service of the highest order and it indeed just comes out of effectively nowhere. First of all, as a design, while I like GT's inspired take on the form, I think Daima's more exaggerated limbs, and the redder hair just looks better. Now, on how it serves the narrative: My personal interpretation is that, Neva granting Goku the power to unlock this form, is and should be tied intrinsically to Goku's character. I don't agree, at least not entirely with people calling it "unearned." I think Neva deciding to no longer remain impartial should be attributed to Goku's character and accomplishments in the Demon Realm thus far. A main character trait of Goku is how he doesn't change all that much; he is a static character. Instead, his true personality comes out in those who surround him, and how they are changed and affected by Goku. This would also further make him a better contrast to Gomah. Goku, achieves a newer form because of the connection he's made to the Demon Realm and its people, Neva included. Gomah's power comes not from his relationship with others, or because he earned it, but due to his coercion and manipulative strategies from others. EDIT: Just to add this, since I forgot about it until I saw it again in the episode but, I think my theory is supported even more by the bit where, despite being exhausted, everyone jumps back, most notably Glorio, after having renewed motivation due to Goku. Just adds to my point that Goku has really made a difference to these characters and, were it up to me I would've focused more on that aspect, thus justifying the transformation a bit better. Now personally, I would've made it much more explicitly clear that Neva was not so much giving him power, as much, giving him the ability to access the power, but what are you gonna do. The last thing is, yeah, this contradicts Super pretty badly, there's no denying that. Personally, I could care less, but yeah.

Shadowpunch13

I don’t care what anyone else says, the fact that my favorite Dragon Ball form is finally canon now and they made a sick as hell redesign with it as well as having the best animated dragon ball fights and introduction since DBS Broly is always going to make me feel like a kid again. Needless to say Stephanie absolutely crushed it with her acting and it makes me so happy they decided to bring her back for the Dub in the first place. Thank you for everything Toriyama 🙏

seels

❗️Spoilers for the last 2 episodes of Diama.❗️ Personally if I could just change one thing, I'd have ssj4 only appear once with mini goku after Neva "evolved" him, and then once Gomah used the third eye to change goku back, that would have been it.

feltskate ._.

5:13 Nah but there really are some chocolate chip cookies in this world that make me feel like turning SS3 too.

JT

So, the inclusion of SS4 in this ending is what makes or breaks the ending of Daima for people (among other things). While I won’t deny that its appearance here is fan service of the highest caliber, I’m also not gonna pretend like it bothered me when I first watched this episode. The way I see it, the scene of Goku activating the transformation after being powered up with Neva’s magic isn’t that hard to buy. Neva has been shown to have magical capabilities far beyond those of other Namekians, and Namekian magic has been shown to do many incredible things throughout the franchise prior to this episode. That being said, I can understand why it would rub some people the wrong way. At the time this episode premiered, the inclusion of this form raised some valid questions regarding continuity, and the transformation did not have any real buildup story-wise (making it feel a bit forced to some). All I can say for now is that Daima’s ending does do some things to dampen the form’s impact for me, but I obviously can’t discuss said things until we get there.

JT

At last, we’ve arrived here. The introduction of Daima’s Super Saiyan 4. If ya couldn’t tell, this was the second big thing that I had tried to warn others about here on Patreon back on the OGDB ep 2 reaction. I just knew it was about to be everywhere online. Doubt it really helped in the end, but I tried. The design that the transformation takes here is different from how it appears in DBGT. The original version of SS4 that you two have been seeing from other DB content thus far was designed by one of Toei’s character designers, Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru. Daima’s Super Saiyan 4 is Toriyama’s adaptation of the form. Still can’t decide on which version I like better. The gold eyes and black hair of GT’s SS4 help distinguish it a bit more from SS God, but I also really dig the big gorilla hands that Daima’s SS4 gives Goku. Word of Super Saiyan 4 appearing in Daima had been floating around the DB community before Daima even began, and just like with SS3 Vegeta, I thought the rumor was complete BS. How wrong I was.
