Final Fantasy 16 Part 6 Playthrough

Oooooo... you'll have to tell us if you get all the achievements as that is definitely an accomplishment! And yeah, we totally get wanting to focus on Clair Obscur 🌹

Bethany and Ken

Well ones that don't have vocals are good as background while working so always welcome good playlists for that, and it can be final fantasy specific or gaming in general. So let's start with that and then can integrate more kinds, like with vocals, in the future.

Yeah, we were super excited to learn about Ambrosia and the back story between her and Clive. And definitely feels like she is a key member of our group now so should be a mandatory mission to reconnect with her.

Bethany and Ken

Thank you for the tip! πŸ™

Same here, these are the fights that actually forced me to start getting creative with different setups and moves.

1:48:00 This reminds me. Charon's Toll (the Hideaway's item shop) now sells a few accessories that'll boost the gil, XP, and AP you'll net from each regular battle. Should you ever feel like taking the "training wheels" off, they can really help you out if you leave 'em on for a while. Ya could also just equip them right before handing in side quests and re-equip whatever accessories you had on before. I'd suggest at least buying the AP one, since it's the most valuable currency in this game.

Crossing my fingers that they do end up doing the DLC as well. But also they have to do some certain sidequests chains to unlock it in the first place I believe but they’ve been pretty good at doing it throughout so far so I’m not too worried to be honest.

34:39 Hehe, yeah, these notorious mark fights are among my favorite, and that's largely because they're the ones that really made me try in the base game. During my first playthrough, the only times I had died the whole way through were thanks to two particular marks (not including the DLC). No bosses, just the marks.

JT

33:17 I don't foresee you two hunting for a fair chunk of these marks since ya don't seem to care much for challenges, but I do have some info about them. Several notorious marks are required for getting certain item drops that'll allow you to craft the best weapons/armor in the game. Killing 10 of them will also earn you the trophy named "Think, Mark!" lol.

JT

Now you two have gotten your first taste of a main staple of Final Fantasy - chocobo riding! Been around ever since Final Fantasy 2. FF16 doesn't use much of their iconic theme though. You can only hear it faintly in the fanfare that plays when you mount Ambrosia. Makes sense given that the overworlds of this game are meant to be rather somber. Upon replaying this game, I was rather surprised at seeing how long it takes for you to get your hands on one. Honestly, I feel like this should've been a mandatory quest. IMO one of this game's biggest problems is that certain environments are more expansive than they really need to be. Not much to do in them, and some branching pathways don't lead to much of anything. Wouldn't have much of a problem with it if the environments were more interesting in art direction, but I can't say they are. Guess the devs just wanted to stick to the FF norm of having an overworld between key locations.

Reposting this reply that I left when ya asked me for recommendations for game OSTs back on ep 4. Wanted to bring it forward bc I'd love to share them with more people who aren't as familiar with them: Recommendations? Just for Final Fantasy or games in general? If it's the former there are a few FF OSTs I could recommend if you don't mind hearing them before experiencing them in game. If it's the latter then ya might need to give me some genres/moods to work with, and if the music needs to have vocals/lyrics or not. There's such a large pool of great video game music that I could pull from, so I wouldn't know where to start with just recommending "anything" πŸ˜…. I should also mention that I don't use Spotify and that not every OST is on there, so that might hold me back if that's a requirement.

Finished my second run of this game a couple of days ago. Now I can focus solely on Clair Obscur. Might try my hand at Final Fantasy mode (New Game +) for the first time once I finish up with it. Hell, I may go as far as trying to get all the achievements. Not usually one to play completionist, but I'm so close and the idea of being part of that 1.8% tempts me for some stupid reason.

JT

Wanted to give you two a heads up while it’s still fresh in my mind (and before it’s too late). While the two big DLC quests β€œEchoes of the Fallen” and β€œThe Rising Tide” were released after the game’s launch, their story content takes place BEFORE the game’s ending. You might want to consider completing them before making your way to the final mission, so you don’t get whiplash from having to do more after rolling credits. However, I also wanted to mention that doing these two quests before the ending also makes the final boss a fair bit easier than it’s β€œsupposed” to be. Not sure how important that is to ya’ll, but just wanted to make note of it. Also, there’s a post credits scene. A rather important one at that.
