A reckless as it was i agree with Ezras plan yes he went in without orders but the empire already knew there plan and they were already getting destroyed prior to them arriving i mean it was a salvage plant with the limited amount of bombers combined with how fast there were being destroyed waiting would of left them with little to none. It took them several jumps to even get there so reinforcements would of arrived to late

A slight note he fought in the clone wars and was in several battles on batuu with Anakin Skywalker. He also managed to deduce on Vader's true identity.
