Destiny 2 The Final Shape Ending Reaction

This is it. The raid and final missions in Final Shape.

We accidentally watched a video that had Excision, but it ended up being a blessing because when we tried playing the mission afterwards just to experience it, we kept crashing and getting kicked out.

haha, at that weird part around 32-33 minutes, I think the guy recording has a bad connection moment but what happens is Misraaks and Korha have a solo duel, and then that giant mech from his House of Light comes down and crushes Korha

huh really

What’s cool is that Crow becoming the hunter vanguard has been hinted at since Uldren killed Cayde. Every Hunter Vanguard has a dare that a successor must complete to become the next vanguard. Cayde beat the previous vanguard in a poker match and begrudgingly won the seat. Caydes dare went to any hunter that killed him, which was fulfilled when Crow became a hunter. This is also why Cayde jokingly tells Crow to “be careful with that word” when he dares him to the shank hunt

Woah! 😮

This thought helps!

Not sure we'd thought that far ahead but it sounds like a good idea!

That is fantastic to learn about the song, as if we needed further reason to cry! 😂

Been a great journey watching you guys experience the light and darkness saga! The final mission was so good! Like nothing we’ve had before in destiny. I don’t think you would have realised but the music that plays in the final mission, Stronger Together, is a mix of the allied forces themes: The Witch Queen (Savathun), Bow to No-One (Mara), Pirate Motif (Eliksni), Cabal Stomp (Cabal), Lightfall theme (Humanity), and the Guardian theme (Us and the Guardians). All of them mixed into one song was incredible to hear and still gets me to tears when I hear it! The last 3 few shots of the montage scene at the end are actually hints to the 3 episodes (seasons) that followed final shape. The Vex and Failsafe (from Nessus), Mithrax, Eido, and the Eliksni, and lastly Xivu Arath reaching for her broken sword, you mistook her for Savathun but they do look a bit similar! Looking forwards to seeing your Mass Effect playthrough and being here when you continue your destiny journey!

Something I really enjoy about salvation's end is that whilst your traversing up the monolith. You actually can see a part of the witness as it's attached itself to the actual structure so when you make the final climb you actually see it's entire body. Another cool fact I have always liked is that for raid bosses? If you take too long they do and enrage mechanic and just wipe your team same for there final stand. But for the witness itself, it's contextualized as in it enacting the final shape, so your racing to stun it and distract it long enough to hurt it get to each damage phase, and if you run out of time it's enrage is it winning, What it did in the very opening cinematic it has done again and this time there's no second chance. Additionally, when you die then you actually see your character get calcified for a brief second

Don't worry, you were not the only ones with tears in their eyes. Are you guys planning on doing some kind of review of the entire Light & Dark Saga of Destiny?

Blake Mitchell

whoo boy yep that got the tears flowing again, its been so nice to watch you both go on this journey through one of my all time favourite games. thank you for giving it the time of day.

Since Cayde used his Light to revive our Ghost, I like to think there's a little bit of Cayde inside every Golden Gun shot I fire off.

Getting to experience Excision be the end of the 10 year light vs dark saga is something that will forever live in my head rent free. Everything about it was great, the music, the mechanics, and what was at stake. Also I feel you Bethany, I was a complete wreck when Ghost turned the stone as I thought we were going lose him for good. I was almost sobbing, but then when Cayde came in, a part of me knew what was going to happen. When he said that we were his favorite, that caused me to fall apart and I felt that in my chest. This was the fourth time that I've went through this story and the ending still made me cry. This was definitely an emotional moment for me as I started out in Destiny 1 with the vanilla story and made and still going strong today. However, I'm glad that you guys got to experience this journey. The moments that made you laugh and the ones that made you cry, it's all part of the journey. Now this isn't the end, there are more stories after this, starting with Episode Echoes, then Revenant, and then Heresy. I do recommend them for you as I believe you two will also enjoy them.

Yeah, I’ll admit, even with me stopping playing the game a few seasons before the Final Shape came out, I did get, and still do, teary-eyed at seeing that scene with our Guardian, Ghost, and Cayde. Like our Ghost (and maybe Ikora too) said, Cayde was letting off readings of nothing but pure light, so I could somewhat tell that we weren’t having Cayde around the whole time, which some fans/players didn’t like that. Also fun fact, did you know that the Witness (his final boss battle in the raid, not the final story mission) is actually soloable? A RAID boss (one that normally takes 6 Guardians) is able to be beaten by one single Guardian. Granted, the whole raid against Nezarec (the raid back during when we had to go fight against Calus on Neomuna during Lightfall) could actually be soloed by a single Guardian. Let that sink in.

Will say this there is a radio message that you did skip but it is still in the game. Do recommend listening to it
