Not everyone can see Yokai. Normal people can't see them. Shiory established that much. So either the red haired girl is special, or she is also a Yokai. Since Shiory did ask how she was unscaved all the time, just before that meeting.

But her death wish changes her smell to a slightly rotting whale. The other Yokai are not bothered by it. But Shiory likes her meat fresh and nice, like some prefer cow meat from happy cows.
