2025-04-10 05:42:32 +0000 UTC@Rede The creator’s presentation of feats is exactly what is being referenced here, nobody is making up feats here or referencing something that isn’t canon…So that argument is pretty much a non-sequitur @Asuka Krillin and Goku were scratched by bullets because their ki guard was down same way Super Buu was riddled with bullets but no sold hits from Gotenks.

I think someone said it here earlier, but it's a shame we don't see her past OGDB (except in a few filler episode in DBZ) cause her character is definitely fascinating, and would have for sure added necessary comic relief to Z and Super (aside from the humor it already had).

2025-04-02 07:54:22 +0000 UTChey sorry, i'm the guy who brought up watching the endings through every now and then for new animation. i'm pretty certain I was wrong, there are four different versions that change as the series progresses on but only in the original Japanese broadcast. since I watched the japanese version last, that's why I believed there were four different versions of the ending song. But no, that only occurs in the OG Japanese broadcast, not international broadcasts. my bad for that guys. if y'all are at all interested in the 4 versions from the OG broadcast (y'all have already seen version 1: the one in the version you're watching), I'll link them here. I put the episodes in which these new endings play so if you wanna watch them after you finish the episode where the new ending starts you can. You can watch version 2 and maybe 3 without too many spoilers but I would avoid version 4 until you get to episode 133. Not sure if you can hear it in Blonde Launch's voice, but VA Fun Fact: Launch is voiced by Meredith McCoy, the most prominent english voice of Android 18. In Japan, she's called Lunch (because Akira loves his name puns, and most humans are based on food). Wow, english dub made Krillin a coward in that moment. Originally, apparently, Lunch didn't yell for help, so Goku was just saying that there was nobody around and Krillin said there's no way a "pichi-pichi gal" is going to be around in the middle of nowhere. Ok, never mind, because they didn't change how scared he was of the officers with guns. Though...that is valid, honestly. I'll admit, hearing Goku talk about Roshi crapping, it really does make me wish we got even a glimpse of hick Goku in english. "He doesn't just take any student." HA! Amazing. You said that as those exact words were on screen for the japanese subtitles. "Bit of an overreaction." Even bigger overreaction in Japanese, because she didn't even notice the outfit in that, she just saw 3 strangers, asked who they are, and whipped out the gun. When she changes back, the pigheaded boys had nothing to do with it, as Lunch just asked if anything bad happened. "I think it was for OGDB, it might have been for Daima." I'm gonna guess it was for Daima, as I don't think the opening or ending credits change for the entirety of OG Dragon Ball. Back then, anime didn't change up their credits often. Alice works too. Also, Krillin and Roshi aren't bulletproof like Goku is, but this is still in the gag manga era of the series, so until a couple of arcs from now, think of it like Looney Tunes rules. 2025-04-01 19:49:56 +0000 UTCSo, Launch and her other half are very aware of each other and don't hold grudges. Blonde Launch accepts her good half and vice versa. We'll be seeing plenty of Launch throughout OGDB and she'll come to be possibly your favorite character. She's mostly the forgotten character of the series being a very independent and strong female. Shame Akira Toriyama couldn't do a lot with her in Z, other than be completely infatuated with a future character. And an even bigger shame Toei or Akira Toriyama didn't bring her back in Super, and instead made up a character for someone's past. Oh well, glad y'all finally got introduced to Launch properly.

That being said, Toriyama's sense of humor in his earlier works involved a lot people either getting shot/blown up and being absolutely fine after getting hurt (kinda like Looney Toons). Especially in Dr. Slump. People got shot in the shot in the head all the time for laughs.

Since Launch suddenly “leaves” the story throughout most of the series after OGDB, Launch is used as a textbook example of how forgetful Toriyama could be. However, there have been several statements and pieces of DB media that have suggested that Toriyama either remembered her AFTER forgetting about her for a time, or that he never forgot her at all and just simply didn’t know what to do with her character. Now, I could try to lay out what I mean in this comment, but tbh, I just don’t have it in me right now. In the sub and in the manga, her name is “Lunch” (bc Toriyama loved his food puns). The dub and video games call her “Launch” because that’s what the word “lunch” can sound like when pronounced with a Japanese accent. I’ve known some fans to refer to her as Lunch, so I’m just letting ya know as to why up front.
