Thank you! 🙏

That is super interesting!

Sounds like playing would involve a lot of stealth then, so might not be the best fit for our skillset right now, but the idea of watching it sounds super intriguing as the trailers have definitely generated interest in the story for us since it just looks wild!

Walking sim 2

It also helped that I played later then everyone else as there is a community aspect with roads that can be built, so once I started most of that had been done for me making it much easier to get around.

I believe so, i only played The directors cut which does add a couple new vehicles and equipment, even a reference to cyberpunk 2077 as an attachment, but I believe the base game still had atleast the bike and truck.

If you are looking for more action this probably isn't the best fit as you really are meant to avoid conflicts if you can, there is fighting in the game but it's mostly about the story which is just insane. Seems to be Kojima's style, I love death stranding, but I see why a lot of people wouldn't get into it. I'd love to see you either play or watch Death Stranding. And yes that's definitely a reference to soild snake as I believe Kojima has said that the actor Luca Marinelli (military guy in trailer) would be a perfect solid snake.

Interesting, thanks for the info. A question though: Were those vehicles and weapons things that were introduced in the Director's Cut version? Just asking bc I feel like that would explain why I witnessed so many mixed opinions back in 2019.

This sure as hell doesn't apply to everyone, but I really appreciate the avant-garde approach that Hideo Kojima takes to directing and producing things. Has anyone ever told ya about the Game Boy Advance game he designed called "Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand"? It was an action-adventure RPG where you play as a vampire hunter that uses weapons powered by sunlight. The game had a specially designed cartridge that had a photometric light sensor that measured light exposure. To reload/charge your weapons, you would have to take the GBA outside and let the sensor pick up the sunlight. If there was no light, then you either had to stealth your way through or visit in-game "Solar Stations". The game also lets you set your current time and time zone, which simulates the position of the Sun in-game and affects the game world accordingly. Yeah yeah, nobody really asked, but the novelty of the game's concept is something I really feel is worth telling others about.

It does start out as "a walking sim" but once you get to chapter 3 you get a lot more equipment like vehicles and weapons, the combat is also pretty unique since there is a lore reason as to why you can't just kill people that plays into the gameplay.

Death Stranding is rather interesting and pretty divisive. I haven't played the first game yet (though I plan to), but I have been observing the discussion surrounding it for quite a while. Since most of the main objectives revolved around just delivering packages and being encouraged to avoid fighting, it's been branded with the "walking simulator" label a lot. Can't speak on how true that is, but I am interested in checking it out personally since I'm curious about games that are more "obtuse" in their direction. Perhaps you two will fall more on the spectrum of those who enjoy it since you seem more interested in the story/artistry behind games compared to the gameplay. Tbh I still have a whole bag of WWW suggestions in my back pocket for games that I believe are way more surreal than what Kojima is known for lol.

WWW Suggestions: You've two have probably seen me mentioning Dragon Quest here on Dragon Ball and video game reactions in the past since it's another big series that Toriyama worked on. I've created these trailer playlists to help introduce you to the series. Figured I'd throw this in as a little way of paying tribute to Chrono Trigger's 30th anniversary (that came yesterday). https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7Wq-naHdAIUecZ0IorpbUZ156Gka2kU-&si=eNKren9-1bY4jXSz
