Assassin's Creed 3 Part 9 Reaction

very late to this but technically charles lee wasn't lying about connor's betrayal of his village since we know what the victors of the american revolution did to his people and it has been mentioned repeatedly that the templars tried to buy the lands(usually by force and coercion yes) because unlike connor they saw this coming As for the village Haytham did show proof that washington was the one who indirectly ordered his village to be born its just that connor is more invested in stopping lee's rise even with him being innocent of the village burning We also see the admiration Lee had for Haytham in the prologue and its not at all faked or just ass-kissing of a superior. Also going back to Haytham he sees the way the winds are blowing due to him having decades on connor in how the patriots are acting and connor's own inexperienced mishandling of the situation he only entered because of a vision and no other prior knowledge

Kevin McNally voices Robert Faulkner the first mate of Conner. The same man who plays Mr Gibbs in Pirates of the Caribbean

Super insightful stuff being shared here about Haytham and what a rich and complex character he is, I think we'll have to dive in a bit more!

Wow, thank you for all of this!

You guys should react to the Homestead Missions after this. They show a lot more of Connor's personality and explain some loose ends from the final portion of this game. Without it, somethings in the finale just kind of happen for no reason (like Diana showing up). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNmBe2mcgWA This video has all the missions and cutscenes with all the Homestead characters + the true end of Achilles and Connor's story. Also, the weight of Haytham's last words are revealed in the AC3 novel Forsaken. Haytham says "I should've killed you a long time ago" because he continued to spare Connor over and over again. He's the one who saved Connor from being hung (which never gets explained in game), going directly against the ideals of the Templars. In the end, Haytham showed Connor a mercy he knew his son would never reciprocate. There's a deleted speech that was cut from the game due to AC3 being rushed. There was a new AC being made each year for a long time, and AC3 had a new engine with a whole new setting and team. It was easy to make the Ezio games because it was the same character with the same basic mechanics and engine, but AC3 was a complete revamp. This speech was probably supposed to play after the game was over considering its context but you should watch it after the Homestead missions as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_PsZ7nig4c

Charles Lee and the Templars didn't kill Connor's mom. George Washington ordered an attack on the village that day and did so again.

So, the creator skipped over a lot of Connor's side story. The Homestead, Charles mentions, throughout the game you meet strangers like a blacksmith, tailor, priest, lumberjacks, inn keepers, farmers, a woodworker and a miner who come live with you and Achilles. You grow close to them and form your own little community and have your own flag. Plus you learn about Achilles and why he names you Connor.

Oof, that line about "I've should have killed you long ago." Speaks volumes if you realize what he means. He grew to care for his son, always tried to convince him to join the Templars because he grew to love him in a way. Yet he kept sparing him and that ended up being his downfall. Haytham is such a great character and I hope you two dive more into him.

Haytham being killed last shows that Charles was true the true enemy, not Haytham. Haytham did really want to help people, but he went at it the wrong way. Even if he provided great points as to why the Templars are the better solution, he did it the worst way possible. Have you read the Assassin's Creed Forsaken novel yet? It's a good read.

haytham is such an great character, his even better if you read Forsaken, him ultimately let Connor kill him because he loved his son and was actually quite proud of him and wasn’t going to kill his own child, he could of killed connor in that fight. he gave connor the big speech about how the templars will always rise even if you pick off any one of them. He said about all they need is for the world to stay as it is because the templars always come out on top, even if Haytham himself dies. he let connor kill him, to prove to him that even if his father dies, it won't stop his order from continuing on. And I don't think he could bring himself to kill his own son he was even the one who saved him from hanging. All in all I think Haytham was tired, he was tired of playing the Templar vs Assassin game. He was, as he stated in the book, always in pain from the old wound Lucio gave him and haunted by his past. He had been through hell and back. But Haytham was actually a good man deep down, I think he really regretted the fact he wasn’t there for Connor in his youth.

Haytham and Charles did not burn the village and kill Connor's mom. Connor says, "all though my mother's blood stains another, Charles Lee is still a monster. Haytham asks Washington what he did 14 years ago, to which Washington says that that was a different matter during the Seven Years War. Remember Ziio attacked Washington, meaning Washington would threaten and burn her village. Washington was responsible for the death of Ziio, not Charles.

Jason Rogue

As it turns out, it was Washington that burned down Connors village and killed his mom not Lee

While the DLC is a What If, it actual feel like a sequel. Up to you two.

Nice, an hour.
