I also root for Monica and Cyril, they go so well together. They have so many cute moments that some were cut from the manga (example below, I doubt it will be shown in the anime). Cyril insisted on carrying Monica to the infirmary after she got poisoned by the tea, but he was too weak and had to let Felix carry her for the rest of the way.

2025-09-02 22:19:08 +0000 UTCSomething else that was skipped: after the meeting where the prince, Cyril and Isabelle confronted the villainess, once the 3 girls left, the prince asked Isabelle if her father would really stop protection the territory of the villainess girl's father. Isabelle told the prince that her father is a man of honor and that he wouldn't abandon the citizens of that territory even if worse had transpired. And that it was thus a bluff to scare the villainess. And in the end, it is also a threat to everyone in the academy that Count Kerbeck's family means business. (Since they'll probally just think that the villainess' father will have simply made concessions to Count Kerbeck as apologies so that he continues protecting his land from dragon attacks.)

2025-08-17 03:26:21 +0000 UTCSomething that was skipped about Isabelle's father, Count Kerbeck, is that while he's only a count (due to the size if his territory and him not caring about politics much and being neutral in the political scene), he's actually in charge of national border defense on the East. He's the only noble there with an actual standing army, and while he doesn't have the obligation to protect the territories of the other nobles in the East (since the Royal army is willing to send troops for that, even only only a small amount), Count Kerbeck gave himself the role of protecting the Eastern regions fully. So the other nobles in the East depend on him.

2025-08-17 03:19:54 +0000 UTCAn additional reason why Monica was so hard on herself to the point if groveling, and why she even went to that tea party with the villainess, is something that was skipped in the anime. It's that as a member of the student council, she has to be a model fir the student body and cannot fail any class and has to be able to do noble like stuff like tea parties and dancing. She has been told that if she fails at those she would be bringing down the image of the student council and the prince didn't deny that. Instead he told her that he trust that she'll manage and be up to his expectations.

Oh, just to make sure it was clear, the poison that was given to Monica are actual eyedrops as Claudia points out the dilation of the girl's eyes. It's just that one of the ingredients is something poisonous, belladonna being a common ingredient way back when (though not the only one as again as Claudia pointed out), similar to the white face powder in the Apothecary Diaries. :D

Though the way that school is going, I wonder how many kids will be enrolled by the time the year ends due to deaths, accidents, getting kicked out, etc.
