2025-07-28 18:51:07 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure that the visual distortions in the Apart flashback are supposed to clue us in that he's an unreliable narrator. Especially noticable is that the brain scans change after he massacres his father, with them now having steadily increasing X-shapes on them. I think most of his backstory is somewhat true, but parts of it are strongly distorted to support his world view. Maybe those kids never actually called him creepy, or maybe he was actually creepy when first talking to them. Something like "Haaa.... Haaaaaa.... Haaaaaa.... Would... would you... Haaa... would you guys wAnNA PLAAAAAAYYYY?!?!?!?"
