Babies: Usually the baby develops in the upright position but turns in the latter part of pregnancy to be head down. You also have to consider where the umbilical cord is, you don't want it around the baby's neck or constricting flow of oxygenated blood to the baby.

Relatively little surface area. I think they intended to make some sort of shaved ice at Loulan's palace, but since the ice dropped on the ground, it was considered dirty, despite the fact that they could have washed it off, but I can only guess that was considered inappropriate or disrespectful. Imagine if a waiter dropped your ice, and people saw it, and later they expected you to eat it. The ice is cut in the North on frozen rivers in winter and transported in bulk. It is kept in large chunks to slow the melting, stored in underground cellars, to last as long as possible until the next winter. The piece was probably just cut from a larger chunk. Ice cream can contain eggs, raw, or scalded just enough to kill any bacteria. French vanilla ice cream has eggs in it, regular vanilla doesn't. It contributes to texture, among other things. Sorbet technically doesn't contain milk, while sherbet does, but there are also regular ice creams with fruit such as peach, strawberry, etc. High fat milk has the best texture.
