2025-04-14 17:15:52 +0000 UTCSo the dude with the turtle shell at the end was a reference to Master Roshi/Muten Roshi from Dragon Ball. Roshi was wearing a purple turtle shell on his back in most of his scenes during the original Dragon Ball series. The same classmate was earlier seen asking Moi whether Nico can use her magic to let people use Kamehameha. One small pun that I'm not entirely certain you noticed, the "onions" cup that Moi was drinking out of is a dadjoke, since he's an Oni (Japanese word for "ogre"). Oni-ons. Hence the picture of an ogre on it. Lastly, almost all of the classmates names are puns. That guy with the stomach ache? His name literally translates to stomach pains.

This might succeed where Gintama failed for me... by not being ahead of me so far when I start the show. I keep waiting for the non comedy serious arc or whatever that is supposedly in the series... but it takes so long to reach I lost interest by knowing something I want to get to ahead of time. Normally that motivates; but Gintama being the reverse anime formula that it is made me anxious to reach the end of the comedy section.
