I know I'm late, life happened, but honestly I'm not sure how happy I am with some of the changes to the backstory. It ultimately doesn't matter much since after this there was like one brief mention of the ex-wife, but in the original novel it was very strongly implied that the Guide was the one who actually ruined his life, he set things up and subtly pushed people to behave negatively. The boss was not the guy who slept with the wife, that was a different, younger rich guy, while the boss just framed the MC for the financial stuff. Once the MC had passed on, the Guide actually did lift his influence off the rich guy the ex-wife was dining with, but that didn't lead to his arrest, just him deciding that he'd had enough fun and dumping the ex-wife. When she asked what about his daughter, the guy replied calmly that in the divorce she had gone under oath swearing the child was off the MC's to get more and a bigger alimony, so what was she talking about? And of course she was free to take him to court, but remember that the bigshot lawyer that got her divorce was his buddy, not hers, so good luck with that. I guess this version feels more like everyone getting their just dues, but that's not really what the Guide is all about. He's an entity that feeds on negative emotions and tries to spread misfortune and misery, he doesn't care about justice in the slightest. And though the MC was his main-source of energy for now, he has others, and is now feeding on the wife's misfortune on the side. Basically the whole thing was a setup to plunge the MC into further misery, except there's best spirit doggo who had been waiting to bring the MC to a better place before the Guide jumped in and then decided to ruin these plans.

If its in his best interest then until ordered otherwise she can work with others in his interest... Man the rules allow for some versatile outcomes. Isekai Trash sure I agree; but like with Jerry Springer thats why you'd like it in the first place.
