Yeah, they changed a bit of stuff in the backstory for the anime. Because while the boss did screw him over and the wife helped frame him, the guy she was sleeping with and fathered a child with was actually a different rich dude. And since it was rather brief I do not remember any mention of the daughter actually being in the know, or really much of anything beyond a mention really. Reading the Light Novel I'd actually assumed the daughter to be much younger, like closer to toddler-age really. Also a bit sad we didn't see good spirit-doggo, but maybe next episode.

Normally its from the main casts POV where its excusing some sort of jerk like behavior from the love interest or something. This time we see that the Father literally is stuck at work to make ends meet all because of the toxic job market putting people in these situations. Damn I feel for the MC; go let out your rage at the system in another world buddy... hopefully the life after being an evil emperor will be a nice peaceful stress free one.
