I almost wonder if there is some sort of disease or sickness that could slow down a body decay. most likely option is something was done to the body to slow down the decaying like removing organs like Egyptians used to do and embalming but idk!

either way previous emperor was a pdf

Is it just me, or did they make those sequences with the blacked out faces even more unsettling than last season? ... Hella creepy. O_O

Dowager – dau·uh·jr a widow with a title or property derived from her late husband. Empress Dowager is the (English translation) title given to the widow or mother of an emperor. It's a title used in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese culture. Significance Empress dowagers had power over the imperial family and harem. They often held regency during the reign of underage emperors. They sometimes extended their control for long periods after the emperor was old enough to govern. They were influential in both cultural and political spheres. Most of the Egyptian methods of mummification wouldn't work in China because in Egypt the process depended on desiccation of the body, and the climate keeping it that way. Embalming I don't know so much about. This is icky, but formaldehyde can be used to preserve bodies that are going to be dissected (it's a carcinogen so I think they stopped using it). It has a strong odor, so something like that Maomao could easily detect. If the Empress Dowager looks 40's to you, that IS young. After all, the emperor is 35. By all rights she should be at least 50. She probably isn't. Young is a relative term here. The hairstyle does look like what we have been acculturated to think looks appropriate on an older woman, but the culture is different. That said, she (and her hair) do present as dignified, mature, restrained, and classic in her style. Also, they said that the Empress Dowager was nearly 30 when she gave birth to her second child, not the emperor. Do the math, and you get a horrifying result.
