2025-02-28 03:27:16 +0000 UTCKinda weird how there's 2 non-romance shows with a female protagonist right now that have a male love interest. And the romance is actually somewhat similar with the guy not really knowing how to approach and the girl trying to avoid noticing (until a certain point). Though unlike with that other show, I don't see these 2 stick together. I see this ending with the girl returning to her own world and her putting the dude up on her wall (drawing of him). And I see the girl being inspired to do that romance anime she was working on. I think the bird is sus. The bird might be the villain or the final villain. I think monsters shooting the new lasers might be a result of the bird's influence rather than the protagonist's influence. She obviously seems to hate the idea of her story being turned into something potentially happy.

My thought process here is that MAPPA wants to go for the inspiring angle that instead of having to actually getting isekai’d to become a better person, Natsuko Hirose, like everyone else, is capable of being a better person all along by simply taking a step back, self-reflect and reevaluate her life and open her mind. This whole thing is just a fun way to illustrate that process.

I don’t think it was a completely alien concept, she just never fully understood it, and she further loses sight of it the more she got swept up in anime production life. A Tale of Perishing is something Natsuko has devoted all her passion to the point of unhealthy obsession since such a young age that it’s believable to me that she would attribute all her life experiences, her interactions with others to its characters in her subconscious fanfiction. It has long since become so personal and integral to her life that it has far surpassed whatever the original creator has in mind for the story. Ultimately whether or not they’ll do a convincing job of it, I don’t know. I just strongly feel that this is the direction they will go for. We’ll see.

So, if this world is only a dream, how are all the characters able to interact in such a way that could teach her about love? If a concept is completely alien, I don't think I could conceive of it in my imagination, let alone a dream, unless it's my superficial and corrupted or extrapolated thoughts on a subject. In other words, I'm in the camp that if you genuinely have no knowledge of or awareness of, even adjacent knowledge, of a subject, then it may not be possible to dream about it.

I guess this is basically the downtime she finally has away from her stressful and packed schedule to help her to process and reconsider her life experience. At the end, this is how she'll wake up from self-reflection, complete her project, and be a better person.

And I warned you about the bird. Next theory, the evil director is actively working against Natsuko because she wants to preserve her terrible story. And I still think fox-lady director is really Natsuko's director, just observing. And she intentionally brought Natsuko here, and maybe she even punished the old director by trapping her here.
