I think the mother is a completely different person when she is alone with the father and that she is a good person but so stuck on having to protect the Kudo name that doing that is paramount. Since she thinks that Miyu lacks power Miyu cant possibly carry on the family line, any child of her will have their power diluted. From her perspective this marriage is an inconceivable bad idea that will bring down the house of Kudo. In general the household seems warm, the servants are happy. The father is great. A big change from season 1. And Miyu has gained the respect of the servants in just one day. Good work, and regardless of what Kiyoka says she will still work towards getting the family she wants.
