Yeah I agree, I know the series is about slapstick comedy. But at some point I even began questioning if Akane should be considered a love interest with all the times she either ignores his warnings or randomly abuses the poor guy. I mean, he has fought Shampoo multiple times and knows how hard and fast she can really hit. So if Ranma is stronger than her and is still concerned with fighting her, then that should have been enough of a clue for Akane to back down after he revived her pet pig. Granted he deserves to be hit by her sometimes, but from what I read further ahead in the manga and watched of the older anime, he does not genuinely deserve it at least 80% of the time. It actually why I truly believe almost any of Ranma other fiancés would be better. In this case, if Shampoo was told the truth at the village instead of the guide dragging them off like an idiot. Then she still would have likely followed them back to Japan, but instead of all this violence, she probably would have just tried to convince him to come back with her to her village in a... more normal way compared to what she has done so far.

Also appreciate the other tendo family members getting a lot of lines and moments in this episode. So often Kasumi, Nabiki and soun act as Background dressing. Nabiki with the Amazon law book showing she holds the most braincells in the room.
