I felt the same way as you when I saw her recognize Ryoga in the original show. As much as I was dying of laughter to see it again, it really was just as painful to see Akane not notice the truth right in front of her. The whole P-Chan thing in actually my second biggest reason for hating Akane the most out of all of Ranma harem.

Azusa, the crazy girl who kidnapped Ryoga (P-Chan) & named him Charlotte, is Yuuki Aoi who also voices the Sin Archbishop of Lust Capella Emerada Lugunica (the shape shifting blonde girl) in "Re: Zero". I would recommend you look her up. Yuuki Aoi-sama is an amazing seiyuu, & voices a lot of great characters.
