Zoom out a little bit. I see this as an iterative process, and every version has made improvements on the original, so I can overlook the small stuff. For me, the web novel didn't go deep enough, but that could have been the translation I had. Fuze's light novel is so much easier to digest, but then suffers the problem of being overly descriptive. I get that it's meant to happen "inside Rimuru's head" but you can clearly see where he slips up and starts doing it with the environment and other characters. The LN is hands down better for me, but it still suffers pacing issues because of the amount of characters, meetings, and thought time for Rimuru. Heck, there's basically an entire volume dedicated to just Velgrynd. But, Fuze even admits to fixing and cleaning up things that he thinks we're messed up on the WN. So I'm giving 8bit the benefit of the doubt that they can fix some of the issues now in the LN. I'm ok with the changes. I'm also ok with the uneven pacing because it's already super uneven in the source material. I'm not going to whine too much about cut content, because nothing was really critical, just added depth to some characters. And I can respect the stopping point they chose. They could have compressed less, but then we wouldn't have gotten the tournament. Or compressed more in the first half, but then I don't know where we would have stopped in the next events. Maybe after the very next thing, but that could turn into a nasty cliffhanger. Gripes aside, they're really building up the Rosso's, but I don't feel like they deserve the attention. I just hope they don't turn them into the whole season, because sorry, they ain't it.

Despite what I said in my own comment, I still think I would rather have 8bit animate Slime than no one at all, and they could have been much worse. I don't know my studios very well so I don't know who would be a better choice. At least 8bit is fairly consistent. Hopefully they will learn more as time goes on, won't drop the quality of the story or animation. And please improve the battle scenes, and the explanations that go with it, 8bit! I have to admit that the LN doesn't always do a good job of explaining things simply either. This part is also the part I have reread the most, because I have been concentrating on it for the last six months.

Ok now that Season 3 is over, these are my honest thoughts on the future of Slime (as someone who loves this franchise too much, but can still look at it semi-objectively) Dunno how I feel about a second movie, the first one was pretty good but I would rather have more canonical seasons than have them split their focus between 2 things. As for Season 4, I would be super hype because as mentioned, it's where things start REALLY going crazy however this season has honestly made me lose quite a lot of trust with 8Bit as a studio with the cut content and bad pacing (especially in the first half)... Overall, as this section of the story was the part I have re-read the most, this season was very very mixed. I think they did a majority of the later portions well, but the first half seriously killed my hopes and hypes to the point it was detremental to my enjoyment for those sections.

I'm excited for what's to come. No need to say more tbh. May the slime return soon!

I always thought Geld was an awkward name because of what it means in English (look it up), though I haven't seen one person in all these years pick up on it. It works much better in German.

that's hilarious!

For this episode, I am not sure it was clear that when Rimuru rejected the merchants, Mjollmile, after Rimuru left, promised to intervene with him on the merchants' behalf after they begged. Thus turning the entire strategy back on them. The other thing was that the participants of the second meeting were carefully chosen. It only included those who knew about Rimuru's connection to Shizu.

I don't know what to say. This is my favorite anime, and I was one of the those worried about Season 4 because of what I thought other people thought. There have been some odd opinions floating around this season, especially towards the end: Masayuki ruined everything; last episode was the worst of the season; where's the action; where's the promised tournament arc; today I heard already about how 8bit is ruining Slime. As someone who has read the light novel, I have my criticisms but generally, I think they did a good job, except I think the battles could have been done better (which has been a problem since Season 1). The anime follows reasonably well with the source, while bafflingly, they did leave out or leave unclear some things I felt were important. But overall, I am happy.
