My Hero Academia Season 7 Episode 16 Live Reaction (FULL)

the fact that Gentle before this episode should have been a meme of a design ended up where he did was impressive enough; but to add in a moment like this how TF IS THIS SEASON so freaking good?? this very well might be a top 3 endgame for me PERIOD

remember when many called gentle a disposable one off villain xD whos laughing now!

I get really invested in the stories that I find compelling. The author builds a world with lore and rules, sometimes the rules are like the fundamental laws of the universe, like physics. As long as the characters operate according to those laws, plausibility is maintained. I've inserted myself into this alternate universe so I can play along. If I have to follow the rules, I expect the main characters to follow them too. But no matter how different this universe is to my native one, I can still apply logic to any situation and even think what would a person of variable reasonableness do in this situation? If the author reveals a new rule later on, as long as it's not a retcon and doesn't conflict with the existing rules, it's just a new law of nature we haven't discovered yet, and that's fine. But the immersion breaks as soon as something improbable happens within the context of this universe. Like isolated lucky events are fine, but when lucky events after lucky event in rapid succession happen... There is such a thing as too lucky. Like people faking a speedrun. Or like your universe suddenly has a multiverse and you're on the timeline where all the lucky things happened.

But if she'd missed the hand, same story. Like, I'm banking on her backstory and experience here, but in reality at whatever distance, actually hitting what you're aiming for has about the same probability. So if I can convince myself that all other things are equal, her instinct should have been the kill shot. On that assertion, this feels like plot armor to me, which, by itself isn't disappointing, but it really feels like it, when they've been doing such a good job until now to keep things plausible if not rational.

she wasn't there the whole time, she just got there among a world ending threat pushing everyone around out of order. she went for the hand because that is what was a threat and had she gone for his head in that moment and he still touched, it would have ended poorly had it not worked 100%

I do love how they keep increasing the intensity with every rug pull, but I'm getting a little irritated that each rug pull is like rational, or at the very least plausible for the given situation, resulting in a new impossible situation to cliffhanger on, but then the heroes overcome with increasingly more bullshit. Like hey, Lady Nagant was here the whole time, just waiting for a shot, never mind that they've been standing still for the last 4 episodes. My disbelief was well and truly suspended until now, but Lady Nagant just brought it right back. She's an assassin. She kills people. This is where Thor should have gone for Thanos' head. Wtf would she take out a hand, a smaller target than the head. Also, villain redemption is cool, especially when it's epic. That ship is a bit cringe for me, but at this point I'd be sad too if it didn't sail.
