I picked up on Esche being the Spirit of the World Tree fairly early on. The efforts she went to in order to protect the demihuman village residents from the otherworlders & the fact that she was there for a long time with no one knowing anything about her clued me into that. The major twist for me was finding out the mayor was planning to do the same thing the otherworlders were doing. Quite possibly, his problem with them was they were taking his business from him. It was heartbreaking to realize they chose to be oppressed by the otherworlders & by the mayor, & turned away their protector. They drove the Spirit of the World Tree away & it died as a result. I hope she finds a better home, one free from bad people.

More like too many evil otherworlders and not enough sensei's . The Yamada's have their hearts in the right place but lack experience and pragmatism to be effective like sensei has in spades. There's really not that much difference between sensei and the evil otherworlders. They just do things with no regard for the consequences to other beings, at best it's the purest form of apathy, at worst it's greedy malice. Sensei acknowledges that other people exist and have their own lives. Even if he derives his fulfilment by bearing witness to their stories, he realizes this wouldn't be possible if other people didn't exist. One side thinks eat or be eaten, that others exist to serve, while the other side wants others to succeed because they can benefit from the success of others.

PEAK!!! Moral of the story: People SUCK! No matter which world! Also Infinite Calmotin? ... Sensei is now the happiest suicidal Otherworldler around!

Initially I actually thought the girl offed herself and returned as a spirit to thank him. Also pretty sure that in the previous arc Sensei was looking to replenish his pills and I think he ran out in an earlier episode as well.

This episode was heartbreaking the towns people became bad and that one other worlder was just trying to do good regrets what he did

Many people should pay a great deal of attention to the underlying moral of the story... we have too many Yamadas and too few Senseis
