In the manga he also had quite a bit of blood loss for me to think it was just being knocked out, so im guessing the sword did heal him like you said. I mean it can cut anything so a little healing wouldnt surprise me.

Since outside of the similarities regarding the sword, that Sid fellow's relation to the hero also seems be bear some similarities to the protagonist of Xenoblade 2 and the legendary hero called Adam (oh and he was also cloaked with a hood). Also not sure why that trick with the light worked. The roof was blown off, the only light they had in that room was the light of the night sky. And Vanessa had just cast a spell with fire all around which.. as we all know, also creates light. Turning off the lights shouldn't have accomplished anything in that room since there were no electrical lights left. I suppose it might make more sense in the source material and some important details may have gotten lost due to sloppy directing in the anime.
