I guess they are implying that tiny lizard in the courtyard is somehow her alligator familiar? The whole scene with the sword maiden reveal was scuffed as hell back when it first aired because its difficult to translate properly all the subtlety and niche word use. Reminds me a lot of Overlord's scuffed first season translation as well. Shows like this and Spice and Wolf got to be hell to translate compared to something like Dragon Ball with just yelling and powering up.
