Chapter 1: Uzumaki Detective Agency

Kyoto [Japan]

A hooded figure in a cloak made their way toward a temple adorned with kitsune statues at the entrance. The structure appeared dilapidated due to years of neglect, largely attributed to the imposing red oni that was staring menacingly at the figure.

The oni stood over ten feet tall, boasting red skin adorned with tattoos. His glowing crimson eyes and two horns protruding from the sides of his head gave him an imposing presence. He had long, unkempt black hair and donned armor that appeared to be from ancient times. In one hand, he wielded a club that seemed to be caked with dried blood.

"It’s you," the oni snarled with fury as he glared at the cloaked figure standing just ten feet away. "You’re the one who has been pursuing my kind, the Yokai hunter."

"Yokai hunting is merely one of my numerous skills," the figure replied coolly, unfazed by the monstrous creature towering over him. "You've taken too many lives, and among those victims was the heiress of a wealthy and powerful family. They've offered me a substantial reward for your capture."

The Oni gazed at the hooded figure in silence for a brief moment before suddenly springing towards him with astonishing speed. He brought his club crashing down onto the cloaked figure, resulting in a cloud of dust upon impact.

"That's the consequence you face for crossing me, foolish human," the red oni declared, a triumphant smile spreading across her face as she reveled in her victory over her opponent. "Now, I need to hunt for more victims—perhaps a woman, since they're the most delicious."

"You truly are a beast," the voice of the cloaked figure echoed from behind the oni, catching him off guard as he believed he had slain the hooded human. "You'll need to try harder than that to eliminate me."

"How are you still breathing?" the oni questioned, his eyes burning with fury and bewilderment. He distinctly remembered the feeling of his club making contact during his initial strike, so how could the human still be standing? Suddenly, a realization struck him—what if there were multiple humans? But it was too late to consider that now.

The Oni was so preoccupied with the cloaked figure before him and his own musings that he failed to notice another identical cloaked figure descending from about forty feet above, hurtling towards him with a basketball-sized orb of blue energy.

"Massive Big Ball Rasengan!" the cloaked figure shouted, his hood falling back to reveal a man with blonde hair, blue eyes, and three whisker marks on each cheek. "Here it comes!"

The strike hit the Oni's back, causing it to howl in agony and fury. However, the human assault team quickly overpowered the creature, forcing it onto its stomach as the Rasengan burrowed into its back, creating a massive crater beneath them.

“Curse you, human!” the oni bellowed as he endured the agony of his bones shattering and organs tearing apart. The pain was unlike anything he had ever experienced, and soon his body was torn in two. “You may have bested me, but my kin will avenge my defeat.”

"I doubt it," the blonde human remarked while slicing off the Oni's head with a kunai radiating blue energy. "And that resolves that issue."

The person positioned a scroll beside the head, and as the sealing array on the scroll illuminated, the oni head disappeared into it. The kanji for oni emerged prominently at the center of the sealing array.

"It's time to collect my payment," the person said with a cheerful grin as he quickly sped off to the client's home. "I can't wait to buy a ton of Ramen with the money I'm about to receive!"

Fast Forward

Tokyo [Japan]

"Thank you, Mr. Uzumaki. Perhaps our daughter can finally find some peace now," said a middle-aged man with a thinning hairline, as he comforted his weeping wife on his shoulder. They were in their high-rise apartment, seated on one side of the sofa, while Naruto sat opposite them, with a table in between that bore the bloodied head of the Oni.

Naruto gazed at the sorrowful couple with sympathy; no one should have to endure the pain of losing a daughter to the brutality of the Oni. They had reached out to him about a week earlier, seeking help in finding their missing child. Though he located her, it was too late—she was already dead and partially devoured.

Initially, the couple believed their daughter had fallen victim to an animal attack. However, Naruto expressed sympathy for them and suggested that it was more likely the work of a youkai. To say they were skeptical would be an understatement; they accused him of being a fraud and even considered contacting the police. That was until he demonstrated his shadow clone technique, proving that the supernatural was real and that he was far from ordinary.

“Are you certain this is what caused my baby’s death?” Mrs. Sato inquired, her eyes fixed angrily on the Oni head. Naruto found it remarkable that most humans would still be terrified of the Oni, even in its headless and lifeless state.

"Absolutely, I'm confident about this. I've been following the path of chaos and ruin he creates, and after questioning several other Youkai, they all indicated that the red oni has an interest in young human girls. One even witnessed him abducting your daughter," Naruto explained. He observed as Mrs. Sato grabbed a letter opener and repeatedly stabbed the oni in the eyes. By the time she finished, she was drenched in the creature's blood.

Naruto and Mr. Sato turned their gaze toward Mrs. Sato, who was glaring at the Oni head with disdain. However, a gradual feeling of relief washed over her, as if she had begun to heal from the pain of her daughter's death.

"I appreciate your assistance, Mr. Uzumaki, but I believe it's time for you to go," Mr. Sato stated, motioning to a servant who presented a briefcase to Naruto and opened it. "This contains your payment, along with a little bonus. If we require your help again in the future, I'll be sure to reach out."

Naruto grabbed the briefcase full of money and quietly walked out, knowing that the couple needed their space to mourn and recover. He set aside his thoughts about them as he left the house.

As Naruto strolled through the streets of Tokyo, he considered picking up some ramen on his way home. He resides in Osaka, where he runs his own business, the Uzumaki Detective Agency, proudly operating under the belief that no case is too small or too large for him to tackle.

Underworld

"Something feels different on Earth," remarked Gwi-Ma, the demon king, as he detected the presence of a new force radiating a tremendous wave of dark energy and malicious intent. "I could take advantage of this, but in what way?"

The atmosphere surrounding the demon king was tense, with Gwi-Ma muttering to himself for an extended period, appearing somewhat unhinged. However, no demon dared to challenge their ruler by mentioning it.

Demons are entities driven by malevolent motives and consume human souls to gain strength. Gwi-Ma, as the king, was significantly weakened by the Honmoon barrier, which was upheld by Huntr/x and fueled by human belief and souls, creating an ironic twist.

Gwi-Ma contemplated that acquiring this new energy source would allow him to penetrate the Honmoon, making him invincible. However, the challenge lay in the fact that the Honmoon was too powerful for him to exert his control over Earth. If only he could temporarily weaken the barrier, even just enough to grab a small fragment of the power he sensed, he would become unstoppable.

"Gwi-Ma, are you still pouting over your failed schemes while the Honmoon grows even more powerful?" Gwi-Ma turned his gaze towards the demon who had the audacity to speak to him like that—Jinu, along with his crew: Mystery, Abby, Baby, and Romance.

Gwi-Ma observed with revulsion as Jinu shared his strategy to undermine the Honmoon and eliminate the Hunters. Normally, the demon king would eliminate anyone who dared to speak to him in such a manner, but as he listened to Jinu's scheme, a plan of his own began to take shape.

"Alright, I'll give you a single opportunity," Gwi-Ma stated, though deep down he was aware that these imbeciles would ultimately fail. However, he didn't require them to defeat the Hunter or annihilate the Honmoon; he merely needed them to weaken the Honmoon momentarily. Then he could discover this new power and manipulate it for himself. "So, what are you going to name your boy band?" Gwi-Ma inquired, not out of genuine interest in the demon's scheme, but to create a false sense of hope for Jinu that he might actually triumph over the Hunters.

"We go by the name Saja boys," Jinu declared with pride, unaware that Gwi-Ma had already deemed him expendable before he even took action, intending to use him as a mere pawn.

South Korea

In a room, a woman with dark hair was studying a report on the increasing sightings of demons in Japan over the past few years. The only lead she had was a subtle yet strong presence that seemed to be influencing the Honmoon in that region.

"Yet, what could that creature possibly be?" the woman pondered, furrowing her brow. "Is it a formidable demon that somehow slipped through the Honmoon, or is it something entirely different?"

"I need to look into this before things take a turn for the worse," the woman murmured to herself while gazing at a photo of her fallen comrades from the Sunlight Sisters, a K-pop group and demon hunters. "I refuse to let their sacrifice go to waste; whatever is threatening the Honmoon must be destroyed."

The woman was aware that she occasionally resorted to extreme actions, particularly concerning Rumi. She had spun countless falsehoods to that girl, but she believed it was all for a noble cause. The Honmoon needed safeguarding, and they had to transform it into gold to permanently banish the demons from the human realm.

The woman, with a determined expression, addressed her adopted daughter as the leader of the K-pop group Huntr/x and the demon hunter who safeguards the Honmoon.

"Hey Celine, how's it going?" Rumi replied cheerfully, glad to hear from someone she regarded as a mother. Unbeknownst to her, the woman’s eyes betrayed a flicker of guilt as they spoke. "Is everything alright?"

"I'm doing well, Rumi, but I need you and the girls to look into something for me," Celine said after a brief pause. She hesitated, unsure of the potential risks involved in sending the Huntr/x to face an unknown, but convinced herself it was for a worthy cause. "I have a task for you."

This piqued Rumi's curiosity; Celine's tone was more solemn and anxious than usual, which was noteworthy since she seldom smiles or laughs. Clearly, whatever was troubling her was significant.

"What would you like us to do?" Rumi inquired, her face set with determination as she prepared to confront whatever challenges lay ahead. Unbeknownst to her, the following day would alter her life and many others forever, as hidden truths emerged and they encountered the most unpredictable ninja from Konoha.
