Chapter 2: Goodbye Elemental Nation
Elemental Nation
Village Hidden In The Mist
Naruto glanced at the lifeless Jinchuriki of the three-tailed turtle with an uninterested look. He had arrived in the village after leaving his previous home to keep a low profile in the Mist village, which was currently at war. He thought it would be an unlikely place for anyone to search for him.
"Perhaps I should have chosen a different village," Naruto thought to himself. Before arriving here, he had briefly stopped in the Land of Waves, which was under the control of a corrupt businessman named Gato. "I would have liked to spend more time in the Waves, but that brat just had to tell them what he saw."
The troublesome kid in question is a brat named Inari, who happens to be the grandson of Tazuna, the bridge builder, and the son of Tsunami. Naruto encountered them after his escape from Konoha and ended up rescuing Tsunami from being abducted by some of Gato's thugs.
The family of four, consisting of Tazuna, Kaiza, Tsunami, and Inari, resided in a cozy yet modest home. In gratitude, Tsunami extended an invitation for Tazuna to join them for dinner.
Flashback Scene Ahead
While they were enjoying their dinner, Naruto observed that Inari, the son of the woman he had unintentionally saved, was closely mimicking Kaiza's every move.
Naruto originally intended to harm Tsunami, but her nurturing presence calmed his violent instincts and prevented him from following through with his intentions.
Kaiza inquired with interest, "Hey Naruto, what brings you to the Land of Waves?" He was surprised to see a boy of Naruto's age traveling by himself.
"I’m just a wanderer trying to find a place to belong," Naruto said, sharing only part of the truth. He was actually searching for a base of operations, and he figured that revealing his status as an orphan might evoke sympathy and make them lower their defenses.
An uncomfortable silence hung in the air among the people present. The Tazuna family was at a loss for how to react to Naruto's words, realizing that a boy his age should be surrounded by his family, yet he found himself without either a home or a family.
"You must have faced many hardships in your life," Kaiza remarked, shattering the quiet. "However, if you're looking to make a home here, I'm willing to help you out."
"Of course, brat, I can assist you in constructing a house," Tazuna said, taking a sip of his sake. His daughter shot him disapproving glances for his drinking habits but eventually resigned herself to the fact that he seemed unfazed.
"Thank you so much, everyone," Naruto said, his voice filled with emotion as fake tears welled up in his eyes. "But I can't ask any of you to go through this."
"There's no need to fret; we’re happy to help you," Tsunami said with a caring smile. Naruto gazed at her, feeling a sense of warmth within "Besides you save me earlier it is the least I can do."
Naruto gave them a fake grateful smile but internal he was confused at the sudden show of kindness were they trying to make him let his guard down, the Uzumaki didn't know what they were plotting but he was not going to fall for it.
Fast Forward
Naruto had moved into his new residence, a quaint single-story house that featured a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room. It was warm and inviting, significantly more comfortable than his previous living situation in Konoha.
The Uzumaki was deeply engrossed in studying the forbidden scroll while trying to perfect some intricate ninjutsu techniques. Despite his efforts, he faced significant difficulties. Luckily, he benefited from the presence of an ancient tailed beast living inside him.
The Uzumaki had developed a fondness for the bridge builder's family, but that didn't mean he wouldn't eliminate them if they obstructed him or irritated him. Still, they appeared to be kind, in stark contrast to the people of Konoha, who despised him simply for being a Jinchuriki.
Three months had gone by since he arrived in the land of waves, and he had to acknowledge that he felt a sense of tranquility. The locals did not cast him judgmental glances or speak ill of him like they did in his previous village. Although that village was impoverished, living here wasn't so bad after all.
One problem Naruto observed was the presence of some thugs working for a corrupt businessman named Gato. He essentially controls the criminal underworld in the Land of Waves, engaging in activities such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, and various illegal dealings.
Naruto contemplated how to handle Gato discreetly, aware that if he eliminated Gato and his crew outright, it would draw unwanted attention to him at this time.
Naruto was aware that the bridge builder's family recognized his training to some extent, especially since he had successfully rescued Tsunami from two thuggish men, defeating them decisively. Fortunately, they never inquired about his past beyond what he had already shared with them.
"Am I getting too soft being here, Kurama?" Naruto inquired of the tailed beast residing within him, who observed the transformations his host was experiencing. The Nine-Tails felt torn; contrary to what many humans believed, he wasn't a demon nor inherently malevolent. He had witnessed everything Naruto endured and truly empathized with him. Now, as he saw Naruto start to enjoy a more ordinary life, the tailed beast had something to express.
"Scram, you annoying little brat! Can’t you see I’m trying to catch some sleep here?" Kurama yelled, turning his back and pretending to snooze.
"What the hell is your problem, you giant furball? I was trying to ask you something!" Naruto yelled at the tailed beast while standing in his mind, right in front of the seal. "Why do you have to be such a jerk?"
Naruto waited, hoping Kurama would turn to him and engage in conversation, but he was let down when all he could hear was the tailed beast snoring. With a frustrated sigh, the Uzumaki withdrew from his mind, angry at the way his only friend was treating him.
Kurama opened one eye, listening to everything Naruto expressed and contemplated. He could have offered Naruto some guidance or pointed out that he was becoming too soft, but it wasn't his role to do so. Whether the Uzumaki evolved into a hero or a monster was a reflection of what this world shaped him into, and they would have to face the consequences of their actions.
Fast Forward
Naruto frowned in distress as he, along with the bridge builder's daughter, his grandson, and the other villagers, watched in shock as Kaiza was bound to a log, bruised and bloodied.
Gato, a small, elderly man clad in a business suit and wielding a walking cane, grinned wickedly alongside his two mercenaries with sparse hair as they watched the fear they had sown among the residents of Wave Village.
"I believe there's a mix-up happening," Gato said, putting on a feigned look of confusion. "This little creature here assaulted one of my associates while they were gathering the payment for my protection services."
At Gato's command, his men resumed their brutal assault on the bound Kaiza, much to the horror of his family. They pleaded for the beating to cease, but their cries went ignored, even as the attackers were drenched in the man's blood.
A few of the villagers were ready to try to rescue Kaiza, but a larger group of Gato's men revealed themselves. Around thirty thugs, equipped with swords, knives, and various other weapons, formed a blockade between Gato and the villagers.
“Now I believe we’re on the same page,†Gato said, casting a confident grin at the villagers seeing the fear in their eyes as his men look at them menacingly. “But just to be clear, I’ll demonstrate my point by dealing with this piece of trash.â€
Naruto grimaced as he witnessed Kaiza's execution. He was unsure of how to process the situation; the older man had always treated him with kindness, not out of obligation or hidden agendas. Seeing him die caused a tightness in Naruto's chest.
Tsunami fell to her knees, her eyes wide in shock as she witnessed the death of her beloved. A heart-wrenching cry escaped her lips, while her son Inari, tears streaming down his face, stood beside her. The only thing holding them together in that moment was Tazuna, who embraced them both, trying to provide comfort as they grappled with the loss of the man he had come to see as a son.
"Now that I've dealt with this waste, I believe it's time to teach you all a lesson for supporting him," Gato announced with a broad smile. "From this point forward, I will be doubling your protection fees. Anyone who can't afford it will face the same fate as this idiot." He pointed his cane at Kaiza, prodding him. "Alright, boys, toss him into the ocean."
Many villagers expressed their concerns not just about Gato's plans for Kaiza's lifeless body, which had been untied and dropped to the ground, but also about his request for double the amount he had previously taken from them. They were already having a hard time making a living, and his demands posed a serious threat to the village's survival.
"Be quiet, you idiots. Don't think I’m unaware that you all conspired to rebel against me with this pathetic excuse for a leader," Gato declared furiously, spitting in Kaiza's face as he lay on the ground. He then kicked the body towards the bridge builder's family, adding, "Let today serve as a lesson about the consequences of challenging me."
Naruto observed as Gato and his men departed with Kaiza's lifeless body, mocking their actions. Deep down, the Uzumaki realized that he had the power to rescue Kaiza, but doing so would reveal his presence and attract attention from Konoha. However, a nagging feeling made him question if he had made the right choice. Meanwhile, Kurama remained silent, as he had been since they began residing in this place.
Tsunami, Tazuna, and Inari watched in sorrow as Kaiza's body was carried away. They desperately wished to retrieve it in order to give him a proper burial, but they knew that attempting to take his body from Gato's men would likely result in their deaths.
This marked the start of what Naruto sensed might be the conclusion of his life in the Land of Waves. His fists were clenched so tightly that they drew blood, but he was determined to eliminate some of the filth that tarnished this serene village, he mused as he observed Gato's retreating figure.
Fast Forward
Naruto resolved to take action under the cover of night when Gato and his henchmen would likely be less vigilant. Earlier, he had secretly created a clone that trailed the shady businessman and his goons back to their hideout.
"Based on the information I've gathered from the clones, Gato employs around one hundred mercenaries who are skilled in chakra usage, though they're not actual ninjas," Naruto reflected as he processed the details in his mind. "The problem is that there are also two ninjas present, and they appear to be quite powerful."
The dilemma arose from the fact that if he needed to battle the ninjas, he might have to tap into Kurama's power, which would essentially reveal his position to any chakra user, regardless of their distance. He was confident that they could even detect him from as far away as Konoha.
"What should I do?" Naruto pondered aloud, then a thought struck him. "Ninjas and mercenaries only take on jobs for money. If I eliminate their employer, they won't have any reason to oppose me."
Naruto was aware that his strategy had numerous weaknesses. For instance, the mercenaries and ninjas might be angered by him eliminating their source of income and could come after him. Alternatively, they might remain loyal to Gato and seek revenge for his death. There were countless ways in which his plan could fail, but it was the best option he could come up with.
After defeating Gato and his henchmen, Naruto returned home, leaving behind just two surviving ninjas: Zabuza, a rogue ninja from the Hidden Mist village, and his apprentice, Haku.
Naruto came across them at Goto base, where the Uzumaki had already dispatched the corrupt businessman by severing his limbs. As a result, the rogue ninjas saw no advantage in confronting him, leading them to go their separate ways. Zabuza muttered curses under his breath before instructing Haku to search the base for anything useful.
As Naruto stepped inside his house, he noticed Inari waiting for him. He assumed that his mother had sent Inari to check on him or something similar. However, the boy stood still in shock when he spotted Naruto drenched in blood.
Inari was on the verge of yelling when, quicker than he could see, Naruto appeared behind him, covering his mouth with one hand and gripping his neck with the other. The Uzumaki contemplated snapping the kid's neck and making it seem like one of Gato's men was responsible, but he paused.
He remembered Kaiza, the person who welcomed him without knowing his past, and Tsunami, the woman who opened her home to him. The thought of how heartbroken the family would be if Inari were to die hit him hard, prompting him to let the boy go and flee for his life.
Naruto let out a deep sigh and remarked, "Well, there goes my life," realizing that Inari was likely sharing what he witnessed with his mother and grandfather. "I should probably leave this place."
As Naruto departed from his home in the Land of Waves, he came across Zabuza and his student on a boat leaving the village. Haku extended an invitation for him to join them, and while the Uzumaki accepted, it was only for a brief period.
Flashback Scene End
This is how he ended up in the concealed Mist village; he departed alongside Haku and Zabuza, the two ninjas affiliated with Gato. Although he considered eliminating them, their usefulness ultimately assisted him in reaching his next goal.
"Why did I need to get mixed up in other people's issues?" Naruto muttered to himself as he noticed the rebel member approaching him, with Zabuza and Haku in the group.
After departing from the Land of Waves, Zabuza urged them to visit his hometown to assist in liberating it from the Kage, who coincidentally is also a Jinchuriki like him.
Zabuza, Haku, and an initially hesitant Naruto became part of the rebellion after encountering its leader, a woman named Mei Terumi, along with her two bodyguards.
Mei is an alluring woman with flowing auburn locks and captivating green eyes. Accompanying her are two bodyguards: one is an older gentleman sporting an eyepatch, while the other is a younger man who carries a weapon concealed in cloth.
Initially, Mei was reluctant to accept them, but ultimately she had no option; she lacked enough fighters to defeat Yagura Karatachi, the Mizukage and host of the three-tailed turtle.
"I have my doubts about all of you, but I'm open to accepting your assistance. Just know that we will be watching you closely," Mei said, as her guard Ao gave a sly grin in response.
Naruto sensed that there was something intriguing hidden beneath the eyepatch the man wore, and he was determined to uncover it, even if it meant resorting to extreme measures like decapitating him.
"Regardless of what it is, you certainly don't have many people of our quality," Zabuza said with an air of arrogance, causing Ao to frown in disapproval, while the younger man, Chojuro, appeared ready to unsheathe the weapon he had concealed at any moment.
"Unfortunately, you’re correct," Mei said, locking eyes with Zabuza before glancing over at Naruto and Haku. "It seems they are indeed a formidable duo."
"Absolutely, they're even more powerful than I am," Zabuza replied without a moment's pause. It was a fact; Haku, with her unique bloodline, and Naruto, as a Jinchuriki, surpassed an ordinary ninja like him who lacked any special abilities or techniques.
Mei was taken aback by Zabuza's words; she recognized that the Mist's demon did not make such assertions without reason. This meant the two younger ninjas must possess remarkable qualities. She silently hoped to the kami that they would prove to be valuable for their mission.
Less than two months later, Naruto stood over the lifeless body of Yagura, flanked by Mei and the surviving members of the rebellion, all gazing at the scene in shock. The war had come to an end.
Fast Forward
Five Years Later
Naruto, covered in blood yet sporting a defiant expression, faced off against three of the five Kages who remained. He had already taken down the Raikage and Tsuchikage, the two most formidable opponents, and now he had to confront the others.
The blonde Uzumaki glanced at the Hokage, Tsunade, the Kazekage, Kankuro, and the Mizukage, Mei.
Naruto believed she would feel immense gratitude toward him for rescuing her village, not to mention their intense night together. However, it seems she discovered that he was responsible for Ao's death during the war in the Hidden Mist.
The Uzumaki was intrigued by what lay beneath the man's eye patch, but Ao refused to let him take a look. Frustrated, his darker tendencies surfaced, and he swiftly decapitated the man before he even realized what was happening. The man's head ended up on the ground, eternally frozen in a look of shock.
The Uzumaki couldn't help but smile at the recollection; he had never liked the man and took pleasure in putting him in his place. His gaze shifted to the Kazekage, the puppet master and brother of the Jinchuriki he had slain. It was clear he was here seeking vengeance, plain and simple.
Lastly, there was Tsunade, the Hokage. He grinned at the woman, who now appeared her actual age rather than using the genjutsu she typically employed. He figured she must have been too exhausted to maintain the illusion.
Naruto grinned at the memory of what he had done to the last Senju apprentice, Shizune; he had dismembered her as part of his scheme to provoke Konoha into clashing with the Akatsuki, who were as much of a nuisance as Root and Danzo.
Tsunade was consumed by fury over her apprentice's death, prompting her to summon a meeting of the five Kage. They reached a consensus to pursue the Akatsuki relentlessly until every member was eliminated, culminating in the defeat of the last remaining member, an Uchiha. While this victory neutralized the threat, the ninja villages endured significant casualties during the conflict against the Akatsuki.
During this time, Naruto faced off against Danzo and his Root soldiers. The elderly man proved to be unexpectedly powerful, particularly with his wood release abilities and the Sharingan eyes he had taken. However, Naruto ultimately triumphed by overwhelming Danzo with a barrage of shadow clones, destructive jutsus, and sheer stamina, leading to the defeat of both him and his minions.
"I am curious how you found out it was me who killed Ao," Naruto asked curiously, looking at Mei. Then he turned to Tsunade, "or your apprentice for that matter."
"We didn't know at first, but after we defeated the Akatsuki, it came together," Mei answered because Tsunade was too enraged by the Uzumaki for bringing up what he did. "None of them had any idea about Ao or Shizune's deaths."
Mei would usually not believe a ninja's words, but strangely all the Akatsuki looked confused when they were accused of those crimes. Mei assumed that Ao died in the war because the Akatsuki was controlling the Mizukage, but it was Naruto all along.
The same was with Tsunade, but in a more direct way. The Kages had put everything they knew and gathered and came to the conclusion that they had been played; someone wanted them to eliminate the Akatsuki for them, and the only answer they found was that the culprit would be a Jinchuriki.
Since most had died by the Akatsuki's hands or otherwise, it left only the eight-tail or the nine-tail Jinchuriki. If you met the eighth-tail Jinchuriki, you would see why it would be impossible for an idiot like him to put this all off, so that left Naruto.
With their pride destroyed, the five Kages hunted Naruto until they cornered him with their armies, which he slaughtered with his shadow clones while he faced them head-on.
Now with both sides on their last legs, it was a matter of determination to see who would outlast the other to the end.
"Let's finish this," Naruto declared, but before he could move, a hand covered in lightning pierced his chest. "What is this?"
Naruto looked behind him to see a man with white hair and a half face mask. What caught his attention was the two Sharingan in the man's eyes; this was the copy ninja, Kakashi.
"It's over," Kakashi stated as he pulled his hand out of Naruto's back, making the blonde fall forward onto the ground. "I am sorry, sensei; I couldn't save your son."
Mindscape
"Kami damn it, how could this have happened?" Naruto cursed and stomped around. The Kyuubi just watched. "Sigh, well I am dying; it does not mean you have to die too, Kurama."
"What do you mean, Naruto?" the tailed beast asked as he saw Naruto move up to the seal on his cage door.
"I am going to let you go," Naruto replied without hesitation, "but make sure to kill them all out there for me."
Kurama looked at Naruto, his eyes sad. He had bonded with the boy over the years, and he had seen the good and bad within him. The tailed beast sometimes curses his father for the world he made by giving human chakra.
Naruto's hand went for the seal, but before he could remove it, someone pushed him away to his shock, and the Kyuubi's shock. But what was more shocking was who it was; it was the Fourth Hokage.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Naruto asked the man who ruined his life. "You should be dead."
"I am, but I am here to stop you from making a mistake, son," the blonde man said gently, making Naruto narrow his eyes as he called him his son.
"What do you mean, 'stop me,' and why did you call me your son?" Naruto asked, his anger growing, but he hid it well.
"I mean I can't let you release the nine tails; it would just bring destruction to the world, and I called you son because I am your father," the Hokage explained with a smile, but it faded as he saw Naruto's face go blank.
"What’s wrong, Naruto? You should know this, didn't your godfather Jiraiya explain everything to you?" the Fourth Hokage said, looking confused at the way his son was acting.
"Hahaha ha," Naruto started to laugh maniacally, with killing intent rolling off of him, making both Kurama and his father say, "So you are the one who cursed me to be a Jinchuriki."
"What is wrong, Naruto?" the Fourth Hokage asked, looking at Naruto with worry. He didn't understand what was wrong. Didn't Jiraiya raise him to be loved in the village? Something was off.
"What’s wrong, you arked 'father'?" Naruro called the forth father mockingly with a crazed look on his face. "I will tell you what’s wrong; you screwed me over to be hated and hunted the moment you made me a Jinchuriki. And that's not all; I hate you and everything you stand for, and I hope Kurama finishes what he started after I release him."
The Hokage was shocked at what he heard; it seemed like Naruto didn't live the life he hoped he had. He wondered how things ended up this way, then his eyes hardened.
"I am sorry that you went through all that, son, but I can't let you release the Kyuubi," the Hokage declared with determination and sadness, getting a grin from Naruto.
"That's what I want to hear," Naruto responded, and an army of shadow clones appeared, each preparing jutsu to attack the blonde Hokage. Then, like a bell sounded, the army of clones charged at the Hokage.
Fast Forward
Naruto looked up at his father with hatred; he had lost, but Minato, his father, didn't get away without injury. He was bleeding all over, and his clothes were ruined. His chakra was almost gone, showing he had to go all out to win.
Naruto begrudgingly acknowledged his father was strong. Well, he was a father, and he knew how to use his speed to the fullest, whereas Naruto was more of a brute force fighter.
"Naruto, I don't know what happened to make you this way, but I am sorry," Minato said, kneeling beside Naruto, his voice filled with regret.
Naruto looked at his father; his eyes softened. Then he mumbled something in a low, weak voice. Minato could not hear him, so he leaned forward, and that was his last mistake: letting his guard down.
As soon as the forth brought his head close to Naruto's mouth, he heard his son say one word that sent shivers down his spine: "die." Before he could react, he felt a pain in his neck as a kunai was lodged in it, a clone that had stayed hidden and stabbed him through the neck.
The original Naruto got back up and drew some of Kurama's power to form a Rasengan; it was a jutsu he learned from the forbidden scroll at Kurama's request. It seemed the tailed beast had a twisted sense of humor. The Uzumaki slammed the Rasengan into Minato's head, blowing it off.
"Tsk, stay dead this time, you piece of shit," Naruto said as he released Kurama's seal. The nine tails stepped out of the gate of his cage with a wicked smile that Naruto mirrored. "Now it's time for you to destroy those fools."
Before Kurama could respond, Naruto was brought to a place that was a white void in front of a red-haired woman. The blonde Uzumaki, who had an idea of what was going on, immediately attacked the unprepared woman.
Kushina looked at her son as he slammed a Rasengan into her stomach without mercy, sending her flying, then followed up by stabbing her in the heart to make sure she died.
The last thought the red-haired woman had as she saw her son look at her with hatred was cursing Konoha for what they did to her baby and her stupid husband. She hoped they all rotted in the shinigami's stomach.
"Now that there are no more interruptions, it's time for you to go wild, Kurama," Naruto stated, looking up at his one and only friend. "Make sure to kill them all."
"Don't worry, Naruto, I will," Kurama replied, his voice filled with bloodlust, but his eyes held sadness as he looked at Naruto. The nine tails tried to tell the blonde something, but he didn't have the words, so he just left his body instead.
Outside Mindscape
What seemed like hours in Naruto's mind were seconds outside; a red chakra exploded from the Uzumaki's fallen body, and to the Kages' and Kakashi's horror, the nine tails were freed and glaring at them.
"Well, shit," Kakashi said, knowing he was screwed along with the Kages. From what the copy ninja knew about the seal, Kyuubi was supposed to die when Naruto did the reform later, but luck was not on his side.
With a roar that shook the battlefield, Kyuubi attacked. Every ninja available raced to help their leaders, even knowing in the end it was useless.
Fast Forward
"That was pathetic," Kurama said as he spat out the body of the Kazekage. He tasted like shit. "Now where is the brat?"
Kurama walked away, not looking back at the carnage he caused. The battlefield was filled with the remains of the ninjas of the five great nations.
Mei, who was cut in half, had tears running down her face. Her mind was on a young girl with auburn hair and blue eyes looking at her with a smile. The Mizukage knew she would be heartbroken when she heard about her death. At least she was with someone she trusted, Chojuro.
Kurama, in the meantime, found Naruto's body, and he was surprisingly alive but barely. The Nine Tails used his chakra to heal him as much as he could, noting that Naruto might never use chakra again if he survived this, due to the lightning attack he took and unsealing him.
"I don't think that you are going to die, Naruto, but you won't be able to live here any longer, especially without chakra," the Kyuubi stated, knowing that the remnants of the ninja villages will hunt Naruto down for killing the leaders and comrades, and without chakra, he would be defenseless.
Kurama thought of what to do, then remembered his father, the Sage of Six Paths, used to travel to different dimensions. From what he told the tailed beasts, those dimensions had humans and other species.
"I have an idea," Kurama stated as he went through hand seals, then a hole in reality opened. Kurama spread his senses into the other dimension and smiled; he sensed humans and other creatures. "Looks like this is goodbye, brat. Take care of yourself."
Kurama threw Naruto into the portal, and it closed behind him. This was the end of Naruto's life in the Elemental Nation, which would soon also fall with the majority of ninjas dead, and the beginning of his life in a fresh new dimension.
Chapter End.

A/N: In this chapter, I try to show that while Naruto is dark, he is not evil, similarly to the Addams Family, who I see as being society's outcasts for their odd behavior and habits.
