Chapter 4: Infinity Stones

Asgard

Naruto smiled as he struck Hela's stomach with his palm, causing her to be thrown several feet back. In response, she conjured two black blades, expertly wielding them as she swung at Naruto's head and groin.

"Am I imagining things, or are you actually trying to take me out?" Naruto said nonchalantly while evading and parrying Hela's continuous strikes.

"Is that right, sweetheart? Just stay put and let me demonstrate how much I long for you," Hela responded in a feigned cheerful tone laced with murderous intent. With each attack Naruto evaded or countered, the goddess's anger and frustration only grew.

On the sidelines, Loki, Thor, and Valkyrie observed the fight, surrounded by an uncomfortable silence. It was evident to them that this conflict felt less like a struggle for survival and more like an angry wife expressing her frustrations toward her husband.

Heimdall had departed from Asgard some time ago, taking a vessel loaded with Asgardians and others who managed to flee while Hela was preoccupied. The only thing left behind was a ship that had been pierced by a massive spike.

Thor wished to release the ship and allow it to depart Asgard, but both Loki and unexpectedly Valkyrie concurred that the vessel was too heavily damaged to endure the conditions of space.

Thor agreed, albeit with hesitation, as he felt compelled to ensure the safety of the Asgardian civilians. However, the battle unfolding before him made him hesitate, as he realized that regardless of the victor, they would still have to confront a formidable adversary.

"Are they actually flirting?" Loki inquired, feeling confused about the entire situation. "This is unreal."

"Yeah, this is how they've interacted with one another ever since Hela was sealed away and Naruto was exiled," Valkyrie remarked, staring blankly at the scene before her as if she had witnessed it countless times before.

"Are you an enemy, a traitor to Asgard?" Thor inquired, abruptly shifting his focus from the fighting couple to Valkyrie. "What were you doing with my... brother-in-law?"

"I think you saw what I was doing with Naruto," Valkyrie answered with a smirk as she saw Thor get flustered at the memory of when he witnessed her and Naruto being intimate, "but if you must know, I am Naruto's personal guard."

"So, you're my foe," Thor remarked, his eyes crackling with electricity, but Valkyrie merely shrugged and seemed unfazed.

"You truly possess a god-like nature, yet you perceive the world in stark contrasts," Valkyrie said, running her fingers through her hair. "I am neither your foe nor your friend, but I can take on either role if the situation calls for it."

"Hold on, Thor," Loki interjected, stepping in between them. "I believe what she's trying to convey is that, as Naruto's personal bodyguard, she will battle whoever her master directs her to." He recognized that they didn't need any more conflict at this moment; regardless of the outcome between Hela and Naruto, they would require all their strength to prevail. "However, I am intrigued, how did you become Naruto's bodyguard?"

"Hela's got a point; you resemble your father Thor, but Loki has his mannerisms and way of speaking," Valkyrie remarked with a wry laugh. "It was that one-eyed old fool who gave me this job."

Thor was furious about the disrespect she displayed towards his father and was on the verge of expressing his discontent when Loki intervened before he could say anything.

"Alright, I get that, but why did you choose to accompany Naruto into exile? I thought you weren't exiled as well," Loki inquired, his expression showing curiosity as he started to grasp the situation more clearly. "I'm fairly certain Odin would have employed his magic to prevent Naruto from entering Asgard."

"You're correct; Odin ensured that Naruto couldn't approach Asgard, as he would be forcefully pushed away," Valkyrie said, her gaze fixed on Naruto and Hela, who had abandoned their techniques and were engaging in a straightforward fight. "I chose to go into exile."

Loki was aware that the situation was more complicated than that, but he refrained from probing further since he sensed Valkyrie's bitterness towards Odin, although he couldn't pinpoint the cause.

Valkyrie was reflecting on a memory of when Odin commanded her and her fellow Valkyries from Asgard to capture Hela while he confronted Naruto.

At that time, she was known as Brunnhilde. Together with her fellow warriors, she confronted Hela, but Hela ended up killing all of them, leaving Brunnhilde as the sole survivor. Shortly afterward, Odin arrived and imprisoned Hela, but the king of Asgard failed to recognize the sacrifice made by the Valkyries.

Not long after Brunnhilde took on the name Valkyrie to honor her lost sisters, symbolizing her role as the last remaining warrior maiden of Asgard, she decided to enter self-imposed exile. During this period, she had a chance encounter with Naruto.

Naruto was understandably quite distressed, as Valkyrie revealed that Odin was responsible for his predicament of being unable to return to Asgard and had also sealed Hela away. The intense killing aura that the blonde warrior emitted made her envision her own demise repeatedly.

"Naruto isn't interested in ruling Asgard," Valkyrie replied, still lost in her thoughts. "You should be more cautious of Hela when it comes to who should take the throne; she's wanted it for as long as I can recall."

"As long as I draw breath, she will not ascend to the throne," Thor declared, his gaze fixed on the fierce battle between Naruto and Hela that was shaking Asgard to its foundations. He felt the urge to intervene, but he knew that doing so could put him in the crosshairs of both husband and wife.

"Are you suggesting that our best chance of surviving this situation is to persuade Hela's husband that we shouldn't engage in combat?" Loki remarked, considering everything he had heard and the little he knew about Naruto.

"Yes," Valkyrie replied curtly. While she didn't have any loyalty or emotional ties to Asgard after Odin used her and her sisters to imprison his daughter and subsequently ignored their existence, she still didn't want to witness a pointless slaughter.

An uncomfortable silence enveloped the three as Naruto and Hela faced off against each other. Meanwhile, the Asgardian civilians who were unable to flee found themselves ironically praying to a higher power for protection from the creatures assaulting their homeland.

As she stood before Naruto, poised to thrust her weapon into his eye, the blonde Asgardian suddenly disappeared. Hela felt her strength wane, causing her to grow pale. Turning around, she noticed Naruto with markings on his hands, the very same symbols now encircling her neck.

"Thor has just realized that he isn't as powerful as he believed," Valkyrie remarked, observing Thor's path. "As a fighter, he understood that if he had stepped into the fray, he would have been defeated, and the rest of you would have met the same fate."

Loki contemplated Valkyrie's words, a wave of unease washing over him. Was it a positive development that Naruto and Hela had reconciled, or would it be wiser for them to escape while the two were preoccupied with each other?

"Damn it, Odin," Loki muttered as a headache began to throb. He found himself in an impossible predicament, so he resorted to his usual tactics of scheming and manipulation.

Hela appeared more composed and less eager for battle, sporting a more serene look as she rested on the throne that belonged to Odin. It seemed that the enjoyable time she spent with Naruto had brightened her spirits.

"Now that were all friends, lets discuss how we can settle this peacefully," Loki said, taking the initiative. He wanted to prevent Thor from saying something that could lead to their downfall.

"There is no room for debate; I am the legitimate queen of Asgard by birthright now that Odin is gone. So kneel, and I'll spare you from losing your heads," Hela stated resolutely, preparing to reignite the conflict.

"What do you recommend?" Naruto inquired, disregarding Hela's comments, much to her annoyance, though she remained silent. "By now, you should realize that you're outmatched and outnumbered." The blonde god of destruction turned to his dark-haired ally standing beside Thor. "Valkyrie, come join me."

Thor's expression reflected feelings of betrayal as Valkyrie, without even looking at him, approached Naruto. She knelt before him and then took her place beside him, distancing herself from Hela, who shot her a fierce glare, silently warning her to stay away from her partner.

Loki, unlike Thor, was aware of Valkyrie's unwavering allegiance. She didn't conceal the fact that she was fiercely devoted to the champion; it was simply unfortunate that the champion happened to be the husband of their murderous sister.

"Indulge me for a moment, and I'll reveal a force capable of transforming the universe and making it obey your commands," Loki proclaimed theatrically, capturing the attention of Naruto and Hela. Thor had a suspicion about where Loki was headed with this but was uncertain whether it would be wise to intervene. "Are you familiar with the Infinity Stones?"

"Indeed, I have," Naruto replied, revealing the tesseract he had retrieved from Odin's trophy room. Having sensed its immense power, he had created a shadow clone to fetch it for him. "If I'm not mistaken, this is an infinity stone."

Loki appeared taken aback, as he hadn't expected Naruto to be aware of the stones, let alone realize that the space stone was located on Asgard.

Naruto squeezed the cube tightly in his hand until it shattered, revealing the radiant blue core inside. Now, he held a gleaming blue gemstone pulsating with energy.

"Indeed, as you might expect, that is the Space Stone," Loki stated seriously, grabbing the attention of everyone present. "I also have more information about a person trying to collect all six stones to wipe out half of the galaxy. His name is Thanos, the Mad Titan."
