Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. Oh my gosh I could see it!!! Pudgey would make a badass Bobbie!!

“I am that guy” will go down as one of the most epic lines of all time.

Lauren

The "I am that guy" scene is one of the most celebrated scenes in the fandom. Amos has been noticing Prax's decent into the darker side of humanity-being harder, learning how to shoot guns, getting more comfortable with death. But remember that Amos separates people into three categories: people you kill, people you follow, and people you protect. Prax is someone to protect. So, he was protecting Prax from becoming a killer - protecting Prax from becoming more like Amos. Once you kill someone, there's no going back.

Great responses here! Just like when Ade said, "Jim, there's something you should know..." and we never get to know what she was going to say... We don't know what Katoa was looking at. I do like the theory that at that moment the "work" was completed and he was looking towards Venus. Also, Bobbie's suit was out of power, and maybe of no more interest to Katoa (since hybrids are drawn to power/radiation).

Erasure25

Such an amazing episode and yeah, Spartan was on his game in this one! There is a lot of speculation regarding what Katoa/hybrid is looking at. One thought is that he suddenly realizes that the "work" is complete, another is that he is just looking around "outside" as he has never been there before. One thing the show does is NOT answer every single question, just like in real life and it is interesting to speculate. There is another call back as Bobbie's suit is "fried" so to speak but what she does is overcome the arm armor in order to fire at Katoa which is reminiscent of when she arm wrestled her suit in Season 2. We all know she has the strength to do such a thing. There is a great podcast you might want to explore once you have finished the series called "Ty and That Guy" with Ty Frank (one of the book authors and screen writers as well ) and Wes Chatham who plays Amos. They formed a friendship during the years filming this series and they start off by going over EVERY SINGLE episode of The Expanse so better to wait until you are done. But its a great way to relive some of the great moments with BTS information. Fantastic Reaction as always!!

Etta Eskridge

I have been waiting for weeks for you guys to get to this amazing episode and I loved watching you experience it.

David Seeholzer

Yeah, this is absolutely one of my favorite episodes of The Expanse. The friendship between Prax and Amos is so wholesome. The "people stuff" in this show is AWESOME.

Chris07

The actor that plays Errinwright (Shawn Doyle) is just, so underrated in this show, I feel like. Every scene he was in, he had my full attention. I've only personally ever seen him in one other thing, but I was really happy to see him again! Shawn Doyle gets a little overshadowed by the larger story and all the wonderful protagonists and interesting other characters, but I wanted to highlight him for his run (and that character's journey in the larger story). Shoutout Shawn Doyle!

Trepanation21

I always get so giddy watching people react to The Expanse, because of fantastic reactions like this. What a joy to relive these epic moments and have more people experience such great character moments and be drawn into this universe. Wonderful reaction!

You guys should make a t-shirt with “Share an Apple” on it 😂😂😂😂😂 I would 100% buy it “About to give your life to save billions… share an apple.”

Bill B.

Exquisite moment.

Gail Ferguson

“I am that guy” YES AMOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill B.

Regarding Spartan saying he’s got the Amos haircut…I don’t know if Halloween is a big thing in Australia, but you two could 100% pull off Amos and Bobbi

Daniel

nb, for the next episode (3x7) there are spoilers in the opening credits.

Lindsay Mathieson

Amos carrying the burden of killing, even if justified (and it sure as hell was) for Prax, God is that such a flawless moment. He IS that guy. Oh, and that ending scene of the protomolecule "ship" emerging from Venus still haunts me every time I see it. The music brings it together, true cosmic horror.

I think Erinwright did what he did for the good of Erinwright. He wanted to rule over Mars, The Belt and the outer planets from Earth. I'm sure he was already working on his approach to getting the Sec-Gen to cancel elections due to the war. I think the actor did a great job exuding the kind of godlike confidence people like that have when they've arrived in a position where they can see the thing they want most: unbridled power.

Joan Monroe

I'm completely fine handwaiving things like that as little linguistic evolutions across time. They're centuries ahead, with so many things going on in their society and the various concerns of human civilization across vast, vast distances, that I have no problem believing that cultural names and nuances take on little changes here and there along the way. But yes, that did always amuse me.

Trepanation21

I don't remember where I heard this, but there's an interesting tidbit -- nitpick, really -- about the name of Chrisjen's son. It's spelled Charanpal, and I guess the correct pronunciation is CHAR-an-pal, but the actors keep pronouncing it CHAR-na-pal, reversing the A and the N in the middle syllable. Which is actually wrong. At least they were consistent with it. But maybe if they had Spartan there to teach them "share an apple," they might have gotten it right, because that's actually slightly closer to the correct pronunciation than what they were saying. 🤣

Tony Camas

"share an apple" is my favorite character too bad we didn't get much(or any) screentime with him ;)

TimTakDoh

As much as I love the “I am that guy” moment (and believe me, I love it so freaking much, one of the best scenes of any show I’ve ever seen), the moment when Prax calls Amos his best friend in the whole world is so freaking good and is just such amazing writing after we’ve been watching the friendship develop between these two men over the last season. Prax ain’t even lying or exaggerating when he says that; Amos really is his best friend. And the acting from both actors is just *chefs kiss* Love this episode so freaking much, truly just a masterpiece of television. BUT I can’t wait for the second half of this season! Shit is really about to go down!

AnastasiyaK

My favorite detail from the that final sequence where we see Jules-Pierre Mao forced to kneel in front of Avasarala is that she is wearing Julie Mao's flight suit from the Razorback and he would recognize it on sight.

And really appreciate your observations on Enrinwright - yes he was wrong in what he did, but he was absolutely right about the Secretary General and his intentions were good - for Earth. That is classic Expanse, rarely are people outright evil (Strickland!), more often they striving fr what they believe is right, sometimes with good reasons. Dawes said it best: "Good and bad, don’t get distracted by that. It will just confuse you. Good men do bad things, like Fred Johnson. And bad men do things believing it’s for the good of all mankind."

Lindsay Mathieson

Yup, I believe Spartan is right, Cotyar (the spy) is talking to Chrisjens son, Charanpal. I don't believe he's hallucinating, just talking to the memory of his dead friend. Remember that earlier in 2x1 on Maos ship when him and Chriscjen were pinned down he said he didn't ower her, he owed her son. And his way of paying him back was keeping Charanpal's mother safe. nb. In the opening shot for Cotyar at the reactor, we see a Space Helmet slashed open - presumably that was Cotyar's helmut that got clawed open by an infected human, infecting him. "I am that guy" most predictable line ever and yet still so epic and satisfying. Amos saved Prax's soul, saved him from becoming a killer like Amos. But possibly even better "This is Amos, he's my best friend in the whole world". The look on Amos' face says everything, I doubt a good guy like Prax has ever said anything like that to him before. I love it for Amos. And I think Pudgey nailed it with Katoea (Hybrid), he wasn't fully formed and thus more vulnerable. When Bobbie shoots his brain stem out you see fresh blood being splattered, he still had some human bits left. Epic reaction! thank you, loved every moment of it. Love how you guys very rarely get confused by events and locations.

Lindsay Mathieson

I love how Mao is kneeling before Avasarala who is wearing Julie's suit... like Julie is also there, standing in judgement of him.

Sheri

"I am that guy" - One of the best moments of the series!

Sheri

"i AM that guy" is such an iconic Amos moment lol

Peter Shim

Share an apple LOL

Scott S

Katoa the hybrid died because she used incendiary rounds. Remember she asked the Roci crew about how they hurt the hybrid, and realized they were weak to fire. So she switched her bullets out for incendiary rounds which indeed hurt the hybrids more.

Chad K

Told you they would love the series ... And the spy is Cotyar Ghazi played by Nick E. Tarabay. And he was talking to the son ... Charanpal, he didn't even know Chrisjen was listening in.

Hans Engelen

So far up to the point I've read the show follows the big story beats from the book, but otherwise it's quite different. And it works.

Golladan

We don't really get to see the story between Anna and the Secretary-General (SG), but we can kind of infer some of it from what we got throughout the season. Looks like they used to be political activists and participating in protests together. With Anna writing speeches. At some point they went into a military base in one of their protests where the SG knew there were orders to shoot and kill, leading to the death of a number of protestors (don't remember the exact number but Anna mentioned it in an earlier episode). The protestors were turned into martyrs, Sorrento-Gillis's political career was launched forward, and Anna left.

Golladan

Its been a dag watching people try to make "That Guy" references in comments the past seasons without doing spoilers 😁

Lindsay Mathieson

Woah there Mr That Guy! Not in front of the children!

Golladan

“I am that guy”. Favourite line in the series!
