Full Length Reaction Guide
We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync. Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen. Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0. Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:
Use a dual monitor PC setup to watch both screens simultaneously
Use the split screen functions on your computer/phone to watch them side by side
Chromecast / Screenshare one screen to your TV while watching the other screen on a phone or laptop
HDMI your laptop / tablet to the TV and use the TV as a 2nd monitor (not mirror display)
Use your Smart TV or Gaming console to play the YouTube reaction and your Phone/Laptop to play the show (or other way around)
Use Google chromes picture in picture mode to overlay your own copy of the show over our reaction in a smaller window size (Link to the extension here: ( https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en )

Love,
Spartan & Pudgey ❤️
I felt a bit disappointed by this season. I liked the first season. I kind of checked out on this when the plot armor seemed to be amped up for the main characters in a few of the mid-season 2 episodes. All in all, interesting, but I think I am out for season 3. I feel like it has been wrapped up well already.

I love the first 2 paragraphs as explanation. So it makes sense they don't really remember what happened in the Borderlands, but there's still a kind of deja vu.
All in all I would've preferred that it ended here (I didn't even know that the manga ended here) , because it kind of finishes the story in a nice way but at the same time I really enjoyed these series so I am looking forward to season 3.
I also prefer this one over Squid Game, maybe because this is more... fantasy/science fiction like which gives it more room for some crazy stuff.
Also I was a lot more invested in the Alice in Borderlands characters than the ones from Squid Game.
When I watched this for a first time and saw the Joker I was excited and I didn't think or look to far into it. But what will the Joker bring? Will that eventually change the view on certain things?

season 2 is the end of the main manga. but for manga theres an extended story with Arisu and Unagi, so season 3 might be about that, or it might be something different completely.
Those who accept the citizenship becomes the next face cards. The face cards you saw in the show all accepted the citizenship upon their previous clear.
also every second that the heart stops is 1 day in the borderland. Arisu was out in a total of 68 seconds, equals 68 days in borderland.

i agree with spartan.. the season 2 finale is just so perfect so when i heard that there was going to be a 3rd season i was kinda upset... it seems like theyre only making another season for no reason.. that's why i'm thinking i'm not gonna watch it unless i hear from people that the season is really good.. i'm content with just how season 2 ends and pretending like season 3 isnt actually happening lol

yeah i agree it's very tough to take this ending as it is when watching it after the series 3 confirmation (as did i). The way I see it, the story is over as per the manga but im willing to give S3 a chance. will get back to ya if its worth watching or not i guess xD i hope it doesnt ruin it..

The meteorite also explains why Akane's (girl with the prosthetic leg) first game was "escape the arena". She was probably close to the blast and was immediately thrown into a game. But it was so dire, there was no game, it was just "RUN".

Heaven and hell are not purgatory. Purgatory is purgatory. Purgatory is a kind of punishment for people that have not confessed their sins. People that die w/o confessing venial sins go to purgatory and through suffering in purgatory will be cleansed and allowed into heaven. Depending upon the amount of sin a person could be there for a short time or a long time. People that die with mortal sins and have not confessed go to hell. It is a cute story but most denominations don't believe in purgatory.

This season was the end of the manga. There is another manga that is connected to this one. I've avoided researching anything else since the end of the second season so you're now caught up to where I am!

My theory at the time was something along these lines;
When the meteorite struck Tokyo, it sent a shockwave out from the impact zone. Since people were different distances away from ground zero, they "Died" at different times. This explains why some people joined the games later than others.
Everyone who "Died" had their soul separated from their body and the soul is what was taken to the Borderland. Everyone was actually there, and they all experienced it. The only determining factor if they live or die is sheer willpower.
The Borderland acts as a gateway between life and death. Choosing to reject citizenship means your soul returns to that land of the living. Accepting means either staying in the Borderland to test others later down the line, Whilst dying in the games means your soul moves on to the land of the dead.
This also kind of explains why they don't remember any details. Their bodies are exactly the same, it's the soul that remembers, which presents itself as Deja Vu.
My theory as to the Joker was that real life was the final game where anything could happen, a 'Wild Card' if you will. Mira had already told Arisu "Life is just a game. Enjoy it" so that felt reasonable to me.
As for Season 3, I'm excited to see where they take the story, but I'm also fully prepared to act like it never existed if it's bad.
Great reaction guys. I'm looking forward to us all watching the next season when it comes out.
Also highly recommend checking out a K-Drama called 'My Name' for some John Wick level action.

My theory is that when they declined citizenship, the Joker put them into a virtual reality where they can all live out their ideal perfect lives. I really don't think they're home and I don't think from the meteorite on happened. Which also means the Joker is the one that was controlling the lasers and such. Maybe even created this whole world.
I never read the manga and watching with you guys was my first time viewing. So I'm pretty excited to see what season 3 brings but Netflix doesn't have a great track record with going off-script from the source material where anime/manga is concerned. So cautiously optimistic.

When they wrote that finale, they didn’t have season 3 in mind. The Joker was left totally open to interpretation. But now that we do have a season 3 coming, we’re all questioning everything again.
From what I’ve read, the Borderland is like a space between life and death. Everyone there is basically on the edge of dying in real life. The games test who has the strongest will to live and those who fight the hardest (like Aguni punching a panther, or Niragi tanking literal flames) survive because they refuse to give up. Makes sense why Heiya lived too, pure determination.
At the end, the remaining players get a choice: stay or leave. Choosing to leave brings them back to real life. Staying probably means staying in a coma… or dying.
So yeah, season 2 wrapped things up really well. Most people didn’t expect a season 3, so when they announced, (a year latter i think) it was a big surprise!
Also, I lost it when Pudgey celebrated her theory only to get shut down 5 seconds later 😂 And Spartan made a good point: the show explored all the fan theories we’ve all had, and then hit us with a new explanation we didn’t even see coming.

Also the red lasers represent players flatlining during cardiac arrest.

Alice in "Borderland" is a limbo space that exists between life and death. Each person who arrives there is essentially in a near-death or limbo state, the borderland between worlds. To survive and potentially return to the real world, they compete in deadly games, each represented by a playing card. The card games aren’t just tests of physical strength or intelligence, they symbolize trials of the soul, designed to evaluate their will to live, their values, and the choices they make under pressure.
The ultimate revelation is that completing all the games doesn’t guarantee survival, rather, it offers players a choice: to return to the real world (if they’re deemed worthy), die, or remain in the Borderland as a "citizen," trapped in limbo and tasked with maintaining the system for others. The story explores themes of mortality, trauma, identity, and what it truly means to be alive.

Back when I was watching this finale, there was no S3 planned / announced yet, so this honestly felt like a perfect ending. I don't really know what may happen in S3, but my best guess would be that at our main characters somehow end up in another life-death scenario and are sent back to the borderland. Maybe. Just a guess.

It’s not really spoilers since it is clearly explained in the manga that is covering these last two seasons. It clearly explains what the joker means and where they were. If you want to know look it up I won’t put it just in case you want to wait to see if they mention it in the next one, but per the manga you would have the answers at this point. Season 3 is original so no idea what to expect.

Yeah when watching at this at the time season 2 release there was no confirmation of a season 3 so for me it was a much more impactful finale but with the knowledge of a season 3 I would also be confused as to why when it is has concluded so well, it does make me nervous for where season 3 is going to go but hopefully they give us another banger season and I am here for it !

So basically the meteorite that struck Tokyo sent a bunch of people into the borderland which is literally the land between life and death. Once you clear all the games you get to choose whether you want to leave the borderland i.e. live on in the real world or become a citizen and remain in the borderland until you eventually die in one of the games.
Time in the borderland funtions differently than in the real world. Weeks or even months go by in the borderland and in the real world its just seconds. Arisu was dead in the real world for about a minute but lived entire months in the borderland and then came back from the dead.
Thats why there were players who became citizens before arisu even arrived in the borderland. They were probably "dead" just mere seconds before him, got transported to the borderland and played all the games and eventually chose to stay and become citizens.
