Dark 3x8 Reaction

Comments

I think Hannah naming the baby Jonas is confirmation that even though Jonas and Martha (and everyone born of their family tree) is gone, there is still a remnant that proves it all did exist; remember Martha asking Jonas whether anything would remain of them, or if in the end they’d just be a dream? That’s my take, at least! So glad y’all enjoyed the series! It was so fun watching with you!

I'm so happy you guys loved this show--I recommend it to EVERYONE! And yes, you now need to let it set in, and then re-watch to catch things you missed during the 1st watch. This is one show that stays on my mind among a few others.

Jennifer Martin

Thanks for this reaction, Dark is a confusing masterpiece and I'll be here for your Severance reactions!

I think a real pivotal moment for Claudia was when middle age World 1 Claudia asked middle age World 2 Claudia if she had ever met her older self and the answer was no. That gave World 1 Claudia the idea that there will only be one old Claudia, and it would be her. So by killing W2 Claudia and posing as both Claudias, she could manipulate both worlds which was necessary to gave her the insight to see the final solution. I think on previous loops, she probably didn’t kill her, so both w1 and w2 Claudias continued to exist, which is why she never gained the insight until now.

Sheri

maybe adam/eva got him hooked on drugs when he was young so he would lead them to the cave lol

Julianjjz

if you think about it , it was just tannhaus praying to god (time), who sent 2 angels (jonas and martha) to save his family. Time travel never actually existed.

Julianjjz

This is indeed we want a Season 4/5 arc :) So glad they did not do this!

Maybe this would be too much of a Dark (pun intended) ending for most, but I can’t help but think, ever since I finished this show, imagine that if Martha and Jonas inadvertently caused the car accident whilst trying to stop it, and thus the loop is maintained. All that effort and build-up at the end just for that killer blow - would have made for a very interesting ending in my opinion. (I actually thought that, for a moment, they were going with this ending when Martha and Jonas’ appearance causes Tannhaus’ son to swerve to avoid them.)

So your saying, that in an unintended round-about-way, his intention with the creation of the Time Machine essentially worked. Just, you know, caused an infinite timeline of suffering until it didn’t, no biggie 😂

AT

Thank you Spartan and Pudgey for giving this show a chance! I hope you will enjoy rewatching on your own in a year or two :)

K

I have REALLY enjoyed this journey with you! This is THE most challenging show I've ever seen and you were both so locked in! Thank you for sharing your reactions with us! DARK is in my top 3 shows of all time. Now... onto The Expanse, one of my other favorite shows of all time! And Severance will be too if they stick the landing! It's a glorious time to be a Spartan & Pudgey Demi God!

Sheri

if only Erik never left drugs near the cave for the kids to pick up.......

Sean Carroll

So, Tannhaus essentially saved his family by building his machine and creating two new worlds that were so dreadful that their inhabitants couldn't take it anymore, so two of them went to his world to prevent the creation of their worlds by saving their creator's family. And Tannhaus himself has no clue about any of this happening.

Frank J

So at the end, at the dinner table, Hannah is remembering the end of the world. The moment when the lights went out was probably the moment that Tanhause destroyed their world in the original timeline. Somehow she has a memory of an event that was erased from time.

What a journey! I've really enjoyed your discussions after each episode, especially this one. Well done!

The greatest ending to a show, for the greatest show of all time, I ball my eyes out every single time. The depth and thought that went into the show will never be forgotten by me! There are some really great fan resources out there! This is a top 3 show for me. Just an absolute masterpiece. It's actually not one writer who made this series, but two! And they're a husband and wife duo! There is no straight forward answer to how the loop and fixing the loop works, but this is my personal theory and it's more based on the science the show seems to lean on: Time is in an entangled quantum superposition where both the loop exists forever and the loop is broken to restore the origin world. What I think happened is Claudia acts as an 'observer' of this superposition (because she gathers enough information about the loop and origin world) which forces the timelines wave function to collapse and loop back into the origin world instead of staying as a self contained loop. Again, this isn't the only interpretation, just the one I like because it's extra nerdy. I also wanna point out that a major underlying theme of this show is the parent/child relationship. Martha and Jonas are front and center I think that is suposed to represent both the intense passion and destruction of romantic love. Tanhouse and Claudia are supposed to represent the enduring love that parents have for their children. I think this show also makes some really interesting commentary on faith vs science too (think back to Noah's discussion with Mikkel in the hospital). A lot of the reason Martha and Jonas do what they do is because they have blind faith in what the people around them tell them. This makes these two lovers end up misguided even though they're always trying to do the right thing. But Claudia is a brilliant nuclear physicist. She isn't just going to blindly believe, she went and actually put the brain power in to figure out what's going on and why. She manipulated people who do blindly believe, into helping her solve the real problem so she could save her daughter. That doesn't make her evil like she seems initially, it makes her incredibly intelligent and she's the GOAT in my opinion. Martha's and Jonas's story is really sweet as sad though. I'm glad they found a way to end their suffering while honoring their love for each other. But yeah def give the show a watch over. I kid you not it's even better on the 2nd and 3rd watch through. They hid SO many little hints to later seasons everywhere! Apologies for wall of text 😂🙏

One of the best shows ever made IMO…so glad I got to rewatch and follow on yalls journey

Timothy McNerney

This is one of my favorite shows ever. The fact that everyone at the table at the end were the ONLY ones not part of the knot just goes to show how crazy and intertwined all the family trees really were. Loved rewatching this with you guys!

Kevin Pinzon

I’m so happy I got to rewatch this with you guys. It gets better with every rewatch. Absolutely my favorite show ever made and listening to your theories was so fun.

Lesley and Zack

Guys Bartosz gets killed by young Noah (his son) in the first scene of the second season ;) happy you finished the series!!

Nicola Vellere

This show actually nailed the landing. Hard to believe but they did it. An ending that was 100% satisfying. And this show is even better on rewatches. Especially Season 1 because of all the clues that are right in the your face but you'd never know it.
