Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

12 Monkeys. I rate it even higher! And also done super masterfully.

Spartan you're asking questions about what middle aged jonas knows bc he should have experienced it, .... dw the show will explain

Ammaar Ahmed

Just limit your brain to there is the world of s1 and 2 and now the non Jonas world

Ammaar Ahmed

If I had to critique anything about the show it would be how they explained the time travel chair, i get why it's there but seemed to make things more confusing on a rewatch.

Demo

Season 3 is masterful but the most confusing lol trying to catch up on szn 2 reactions to watch the end w/ everyone!!

Demo

Man I feel the same way. The only shows that made me feel that way are Game of thrones, Attack on Titan and Dark. You just never want it to end.

Betty Alice

One small detail middle age "unknown guy" and "older unknown guy" are in real life father and son. And later in this season we also get another father&son duo. 🤫

One Thing that I wanted to tell is how good is DARK soundtrack,I have my Dark season 3 playlist and every time I listen to the songs it brings be back to that specific episode.

Josip Buretić

Stranger Jonas is in 1888. 131 years earlier than when the show starts in 2019! Crazy!!!

Mykala

Yes Jantje Friese did fantastic job and I also love that she knew from beginning that she will tell us her story in 3 seasons.

Josip Buretić

I think they missed it's 1888, by their reaction i think they thouht it's 1988.

Milorad

It's so confusingly amazing hey? 😂 And somehow the writers made season 3 😂

danii

Yasin, Mads, Erik stuff was wrapped up in SEASON 1 guys, come on😭. They were killed testing the time travel chair by Helge and Noah, that sent Mads forward in time and Erik and Yasin back.

Ammaar Ahmed

Cannot wait to watch later your reaction and be ready to get 🤯🤯🤯 this season is just amazing

Josip Buretić

For sure!💯

That is great to hear, Dark is in my top 3 favorite shows and it makes me every time happy when new people discover this great show. I am really looking forward to hear your opinion on the last 3 episodes. I love them all but episodes 7&8 are just perfect

Josip Buretić

I love this show. The first time I watched the first few episodes of season 3 which was in the last month, I thought if added too much for a show ending after 8 episodes. I now love it. I have not seen the last three episodes, I am waiting to watch them with Spartan and Pudgey. I have never wanted to protect two teenagers (with the exception of a couple of family members) as much as I want to protect Martha and Jonas. Their characters are so vulnerable and so well written.

Lyn Hurst

it is mentioned in another episode this season also.

It's not really meant to be a secret who is 'sending Mads' at this point and has been pretty much explained through various conversations and context clues here and there but I guess the pieces of information are quite spread out and you didn't pick up on it, but this show has a lot to absorb especially for reactions, so that's totally understandable :D, but since you still seem to be expecting for it to be explained and will probably be puzzled it never is, its probably a good idea to recap what was revealed throughout the show. At least in the original world, Noah and Helge are trying to make their chair time machine in the 80s in the bunker with the wallpaper to work, and it doesn't. They are kidnapping kids to put in the chair to try sending them through time but It kills them in the process, we can assume because of the thin metal strip clamped closed around the eyes (We see Erik have this clamped around his eyes in two scenes when he's tied into the chair, the last time we see him alive, then next time we see him he's being dragged away by Helge with his eyes burnt out just like Mads), but it does time travel them, despite killing them. Mads is assumed to have been tied into the creepy time travel chair in '86 by Noah and Helge, then when someone opens the doors to travel through the tunnel in the caves (in the original world this is likely Jonas taking Mikkel back to 1986), the energy from the tunnel is channelled up into the bunker which is situated directly above the crossroads of the tunnel, they channel that energy in the chair to time travel whoever's sat in it. That's why the portal opened up between young Helge and Jonas in the S1 finale when older Jonas activated the device in the tunnel, as older Jonas was directly below them at the crossroads of the tunnel, and the bunker is built directly above it. So Mads is teleported from the chair, he is killed in the process due to the chair's metal ring clasp that's attached around the eyes and ears burning his eyes out, and his dead body is sent forward 33 years and falls out of the portal dead in 2019 in front of Peter, in the same bunker, at the same spot in the room the chair was situated 33 years ago. He's literally travelled forward out of the chair and died moments ago and is in the same position 33 years later, and falls to the floor because the chair stays where it was. in S1 we also saw Noah and Helge in '53, with Noah cleaning the bunker floor with a brush, and writing the dates on the wall when Erik and Yasin were killed in the chair and sent back 33 years to 1953, they too will have fallen out of a rip in space in the bunker, dead with their eyes and ears burnt, but in this case they went back 33 years instead of forward like Mads did. Then Helge dumped their bodies in the construction site while Noah cleaned up the floor of the bunker. It was after Yasin that Helge started to lose hope and was feeling guilty, asking Noah why doesn't the chair work and saying he doesn't want to do it any more. And Noah telling him to have faith and that they will make the chair work. Then after Helges car accident, at some point Noah clearly finally makes the chair work for young Helge, when he sends him back to 1953 the machine had been redesigned to be fully body metal enclosure that's shut around his entire body, instead of just a strip around the eyes, presumably distributing the energy more evenly and not burning out the eyes and ears, so young Helge is sent successfully back to 53 alive to grow up, and we can assume would have fallen through a rip in space like Mads did, but into the '53 bunker instead of 2019, and alive and well to then make his way back home. Mads, Erik and Yasin were the first three test subjects trying to make the chair time machine work, and it killed them, and then young Helge was the fourth and successful test.

Man I sometimes forget how good this episode is! Gonna spell it out now because it will get *super* confusing if you don't pick up on it fast—the weird transition effect is used when switching scenes between worlds (it's almost always used but there are a couple of instances where the world might switch without it, so don't rely on it 100%—but if you see it, the world definitely switched). So the first time it is used, between Jonas talking to Peter in the graveyard, to the scene of the three Unknowns (as they're called in the credits) ambushing Bernd Doppler in his house, is a switch back to the world we're familiar with. Then it's used again at the end of that scene to show we're switching back to Martha's world.

TeddyBearBonfire

Btw useful tip for keeping track, that portal sucky effect transition is when we transition between worlds the three aged person going to see Berndt was in the prime world which is why we got that transition between scenes going to and from it, also the dates are printed backwards in the alternate world and the dates are forward in the prime world. Same with Martha visiting middle aged Jonas at the end. That was alt martha coming to see our middle aged jonas in 1880 and so it did the portal effect to it.

lemmy

1888 + 33 = 1921 1921 + 33 = 1954 1954 + 33 = 1987 1987 + 33 = 2020 It's still the 33-year cycle. The weird scene transition is done to show that we're jumping between worlds.

Golladan

🐐 show

DRIP DROP

It's not just the houses. Everything in Martha's world is mirrored. The injury Martha had under her eye when she picked up Jonas was on one side in Jonas's world, and in the other in Martha's world.

Golladan

One thing, I'm not sure if you notice later in the ep. all the houses are reversed, mirror images, the stairs come down from right to left in Jonas' house instead of from left to right, bed at the other side of the room in Jonas/Martha's room etc.

lemmy

Let's go season 3! Time for the confusion to reach new heights!
