Better Call Saul 3x10 Reaction

Francesca in the timeline of breaking bad has worked for Saul for years at that point… that could break anyone’s good spirit in dealing with his crap and clientele. I think she’s genuine in her demeanor here but changes overtime. Jimmy did go after Chuck’s insurance and made those premiums go up for HHM. Chuck had all these aspirations related to getting back to work and having friends again but his forced retirement broke him. Along with everything building up. Chuck was in love with the law and it was his whole life… having that taken away seemed to me like a forced end to his life. I also hold the theory his “electric allergy” mental illness started when he got divorced and his life wasn’t turning out how he envisioned. I don’t think he could ever cope well. This doesn’t get explored further so that’s what I think started the illness..

Love it. One of the best villains ever!

“I wonder who takes over the operation for the Salamancas?” Excellent question…

I love how, after Chuck's fall in the copy shop, you said something like "he can't be dead, that would be too dark". Not knowing how much darker Chuck's ending actually is! Love it, as always.

I don't think they were muscle spasms... 😬

It is a really sad note to end on for the McGill brothers but I think its clear that Chuck didnt mean what he said, at least not truly. It's no coincidence that he immediately spirals after he says that to him, and I think the flashback further proofs that Jimmy has always been incredibly important to Chuck, he just can't stand the slippin' side of Jimmy. I also think he definitely knocked that lantern over on purpose. He was going crazy with the electricity, I dont think he had slept at all for days because of it. He had lost everything and everyone hes ever cared about, whether its by his own doing or someone elses, he has lost everything. He just wanted to rest, I think. He most definitely felt he had nothing left to live for, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he told Jimmy what he did just to drive him away and make his suicide as small a blow as possible for Jimmy.

Just a thought on your quick discussion in the episode on whether Jimmy’s pressure to want to keep the office open, and whether that affected Kim in taking on more work. I don’t think it’s that at all, actually. Kim is set for life being a solo practitioner with Mesa Verde, you’ll notice that she took on the extra client at the lunch with Kevin and Paige ONLY after Howard pulls his stunt and Kim pulls her stunt back on Howard. It’s a deeper psychological thing with Kim, I think it had to do with how Howard “lil bro’d” her and her desire not to be treated like that to Howard. So she took on even more work to prove to herself that Howard’s treatment of her were unjustified, hence why she went over drive with her work. Just think about this, if it was all about Jimmy then why, in the scene before her car crash, is she just completely ignoring and dismissing Jimmy when he is saying “hey we don’t have to worry about the office anymore, I have all the money we’ll ever need due to Sandpiper settling.”

Remember this is all happening because once again Jimmy sabotaged his brother by bullshitting the insurance representative and sabotaged his brother again. But of course people only see it as "Chuck did it to himself" which is honestly ridiculous and hilarious.
