You guys should do the other youtuber reaction format. Where you post the videos there early as "unlisted", that way we can comment there now, and when the video goes live we're all part of the conversation there as people start replying and etc too. It works well for the channel because people see that people commented months of weeks ahead and it's an incentive for them to join, and it also works well for patreon members to keep their subscriptions on bc then they also get to enjoy the large youtube community bc some times just commenting on patreon feels less lively no matter the size of the channel when compared to youtube.

The point of the line is to demonstrate from beth's PoV that despite her memories of the orphanage being so menacing to her, it's ultimately just another institution kids come and go from and it's has effectively forgotten about her and moved on. To old Deardorff she's just another orphan who should be in the chapel instead of wandering around (her eyesight is probably going as well)

I think Deardorff saying 'you should be in chapel' was a kind of callback to when she used to say that to her; Beth realises this, and plays along with it by responding 'yes ma'am'... It would seem a little OOC for Deardorff to start chatting to/praising Beth for her chess career etc. However, your interpretations could also be correct, in that she just no longer recognises her (it's been a good while since I watched the series - and that particular scene - in full).
