Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

The Penguin Episode 4 Uncut Reaction

Comments

Carmine Falcone was recast for the flashbacks this episode because the original actor from The Batman, John Turturro, was busy filming Severance. He later said he turned down returning in the role because of the characters violence towards women, but it really doesn’t make sense bc it’s only implied in the show meanwhile he’s actually shown doing it in the movie. As much as I love Turturro, I like the shows portrayal of Falcone better, but it’s a little jarring how different they are since they’re canonically still supposed to be the same person. That lack of continuity is my one gripe about this Batman universe.

Jonny Rey

Yeah I was gonna say this I’m surprised they still haven’t done a rewatch in between episodes like they said they might. I feel like they would’ve predicted the reveals this episode a lot sooner if The Batman were fresher in their minds.

Notice how Sofia starts both speeches the same at the fundraiser flashback and then the family dinner with “well im not one for speeches”, perfect writing 10 years apart.

Ibrahim Emin

If you enjoy the writing and design of the episodes you should watch the inside the episode behind the scenes after the show! Great Reaction guys !!!

1 issue for me. I thought she didn't know Os turned her in until she got out?

taco man

This episode launched Cristin Milioti into a must watch category for me.

Paul Walker

For real! Rhea deserved recognition and was robbed and it's happening again with Cristin

I hate that it was another case of giving the award to a name instead of an actual performance. Let's not even talk about Jennifer Coolidge winning the Emmy over Rhea Seehorn

Paul Walker

It definitely helps (re)watching The Batman before starting The Penguin. Not only did he kill Selina Kyle's mom but he did it by strangulation and he tried to strangle Selina as well.

Paul Walker

This is one of my favorite episodes on the show and it just shows how layered Sofia's character is. The fact that the Golden globes didn't award Cristin Milioti for her performance as Sofia in this episode is mind blowing and unfathomable. Hopefully Cristin Milioti will win the Emmy for this incredible performance and being vulnerable as an actress to show the mental break in this show.

Connor W

this might be my favorite episode too, what a game changer. team sophia!

Also keep in mind, it was revealed in The Batman that Carmine killed Selina Kyle's mom too. She and Sofia are half-sisters.

One of the biggest robberies in Golden Globe history. Jodie Foster won over Cristin Milioti? Did the judges even watch this episode?? God what happened to Sofia was heartbreaking, maddening, and the literal definition of a hopekiller. Gassing the whole family? Yeah, not sad about that.
