Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

I've said this before with regard to other shows but it's really interesting to me how much Spartan really struggles with deaths that he finds insufficiently glamorous or meaningful. Personally I am the opposite: I find "cinematic" deaths to be predictable and boring, and get pleasantly surprised when a major character is taken out in more realistic ways. Death, even of heroes, is very rarely pretty or glamorous. I like when shows respect that. That girl's death was unglamorous and yet made perfect sense. She could barely stand, she wasn't gonna go out in some heroic way. One of the reasons Game of Thrones was so great in early seasons is that it understood things like this (then eventually got stupid). So I'd be curious to hear your perspective on this!

Yeah that was weird. Even later on when the Front Man reeling in front a mirror and seeing the cop, they didn't get it and instead were puzzled that the death of the cop was "really affecting him." So weird! Ah well, even the smartest and most perceptive reactors have off days. It happens. You guys are still the best. ;)

Julien

So, I'm sure you've realised but the front man IS the brother. Also, regarding the injury, I don't know if it was intentional to injure them, but remember that they were down to the last seconds and whenever the time is up in the games, the remaining players die. So if they had made it over the bridge with plenty of time to spare, the glass would have still shattered like that, but they would have been out of the room

Gi-hun used to drive Sang-woo to school. 😂 I think you’ve got some wires crossed. Gi-hun was working as a chauffeur, but he and Sang-woo were childhood friends. Meaning, they were children together.

Kate

Of course it was his brother. I honestly don’t know how anyone could interpret it in any other way, regardless of the translation.

Jiří Werner

damn! we needed that version 😭

I noticed that the subtitles are different in your version from my US Netflix version, he mentions "brother" in the subtitles during their confrontation.

Natch

Pudgey trying to take credit for spartans prediction 🤣🤣🤣

Ross Davies

I don’t think you need the subtitles to say “brother”, to see that the looks they gave each other and all the other signs pointed to him clearly being his brother

Sean van Hengel

The front man was indeed his brother, Spartan was right. I think the subtitles were not clear

Minerva Ravenclaw

Must have been an Australian subtitles thing cause I’m in the states and mine have been slightly different than theirs this whole time. Mine did say “brother”

Jonny Rey

Also, the biggest hint was that he called him in-ho. Which was his brothers name when he was looking through the files of the office at previous winners to find his brother. So if you pay attention to the names you would have known it was his brother

Kurt G

It’s funny because it shouldn’t be 😆

ShanB

"How do they even select the guards?" They order them, at BAD-GUYS-R-US

I forgot just how short this episode was damn...

The Frontman was the cop guy’s older brother. The subtitles did non-Korean speakers an injustice (a few times). When the frontman took his mask off, the cop said “Hyoung,” which is what Korean guys call their older brother. The subtitles should have said “Brother” the first time to avoid confusion. “Hyoung” can also be something a younger kid can also call an older friend. That’s another reason Ali’s death was sad, because Sang-Woo told him to call him “Hyoung” which meant that he saw him as his “lil bro.”
