We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

Fun Fact: Jesse Pinkman's house and Chuck McGill's house are a block away in real life.

Calm down

Nathan Cutter

Definitely disagree that Chuck was right.

SuddenImpulse

No love for Gould or the other BB writers eh.

SuddenImpulse

Vince Gilligan is a genius writer. Absolute genius

Nathan Cutter

Loving these reactions SO MUCH! Thank you !

Petteri Ahlberg

I disagree. The advice Chuck gave to Jimmy to give the case to HHM, the firm where Chuck is Senior Partner, was completely self-serving to Chuck, and detrimental to Jimmy. As Jimmy said to Howard at the conference room table, when a lawyer like Jimmy who already has an employment history and connection with HHM, brings in a strong multimillion dollar class action case like Sandpiper, that deserves an Associate offer, or possibly even a Partnership offer. In a city as big as Albuquerque, New Mexico, there would be several law firms equal to more capable than HHM that could handle that matter, and would be willing to offer Jimmy an Associate or Partnership position for that type of business.

N M

Ultimately correct about what exactly? That Jimmy will always be “Slippin Jimmy” and “not a real lawyer” as Chuck said to explain himself? I disagree. Up to now Jimmy has proven himself to be the best advocate for his plaintiff clients against Sandpiper. Who else has demonstrated better advocacy for the senior citizens who live there?

N M

Yes, the dude that Mike beats up is Steven Ogg, Trevor's voice actor from GTA 5. Good job on noticing Spartan! Also gotta say, watching Breaking Bad has helped you guys a lot. You do a great job of recognizing the symbolism in the show

Pogger White

I mean, yeah he was correct but only because he made it happened that way. Its not like he was right all along. He took action to prevent Jimmy from scaming his way through the law world but his actions did nothing other than to seal that fate. If Chuck didnt do anything and allow Jimmy to do honest lawyer work chances are he probably would have never needed to turn to the dark side. I think Chuck is solely more responsible for the creation of Saul Goodman than Jimmy himself.

Pablo

For as underhanded as Chuck's tactics and motivations are, given what we've seen in Breaking Bad, he was ultimately correct. A full discussion of this would get into spoilers for BCS, but at a surface level, from what the audience knows at this point in the story Chuck is ultimately correct.

Jeff M

Ope. "In interviews with The Hollywood Reporter and Rolling Stone, Thomas Schnauz confirmed that Daniel Wormald and the Danny mentioned in Breaking Bad are the same character." 🤦‍♂️

J_Fley .

No, it doesn’t 🤦‍♂️

Sean van Hengel

It’ll happen eventually. My guess is late season 2

Thanksss! love this show and this channel <3

Some times you might think that the A story and the B story have nothing to do with one another. But that's not really true, thematically they always match and they help support each others narrative. This episode we saw Mike giving that awesome speech about being on either side of the law, good or bad and still be the opposite as a person. They might be criminals but whether you are a good one or a bad one depends on whether you keep your word and be straight about it, have honor. He obviously said it to Pryce focusing on the criminal side of it. But Chuck is the other side of the coin, a man who will always put the law above all and still he couldn't be straight about his intentions, he had to put on a mask to hide who he really was while playing a double agent and betraying Jimmy who trusted him.

Pablo

Oh and actually I don't think Chuck was really thinking about hurting Jimmy when he first suggested that the case should go to HHM, I think he actually did that for the good of the clients based on how well he was doing mentally up until that point. It was only until Jimmy mentioned that he would have to get an office right next to Chuck when it hit him, like, what? Slippin Jimmy is gonna be on the same level as me just like that? No way, not gonna happen that easy

Pablo

Chuck and Charlie are both nick names of the formal name Chuck, but no one refers to him as Charlie. Hamlin protected Chuck and Kim protected Jimmy from knowing the truth. I don't trust Chuck as he seems to be turning his symptoms on and off with the Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS) which shows he can't be honest with himself. Not telling Jimmy straight up how he felt is cowardly and also dishonest. I love Mike taking the guns from Mr. Chatty and scaring the big dude off. Great reactions. I am not bothered as much as some others by your not calling him Jimmy, but he is still Jimmy for now.

Lyn Hurst

Great reaction as always guys! And good on pudgey for figuring out the Chuck antagonist plot twist early on the episode. I think spartan just had too much faith in Chuck seing as he was enjoying too much the sibling dinamic and how they were working together last episode. Speaking of last episode. This is just me speculating btw but since Its never fully explained exactly when Chuck started to develop his mental illness and now watching this episode and having the knowledge that Chuck was behind all of the pushback from HHM, i dont think the opening scene and closing scene of episode 8 are there as an accident. The opening scene shows Jimmy letting Chuck know that he passed the bar to a mixed response by Chuck followed by Hamlin letting Jimmy know he wont be working there. And the last scene shows Chuck finally being able to step outside and for a moment overcome his sickness at a time where he was in good terms with Jimmy and at peace with the fact that they were working together as lawyers. It just cant be a coincidence, i think that that moment after Chuck first send Hamlin to do his dirty work for him, the moment he actively went out of his way to push Jimmy down has to be the defining moment, timeline checks out, he must have gotten the first synthoms of his "allergy to electricity" not very long after it happened as a result of the guilt he felt for betraying his own brother.

Pablo

The ch sound in Spanish is used to baby talk. Kinda like replacing L with w in english. Ignacio turns into Nacho without the i and g and a little added baby talk.

Daniel Castro

“People don’t change” is such a dangerous mentality to have as A LAWYER.

Alex I.

Nice mugs! They suit you! Even though this show is about Saul, Kim and Mike are my two favorites. They're such real ones and badasses in their own right.

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

Do we think Spartan and/or Pudgey will ever refer to him as Jimmy not Saul?

Paul Walker

yes the dude that got bitched by mike is trevor from GTA V. The actors name is Steven Ogg

ynnk99

Chuck is a nickname, Spartan is correct, his full name is Charles Lindbergh McGill Jr.

E T

"I love how they love each other y'know" Pudgey 2024

Watch Howard’s eyes closely during the scene while he tells Jimmy he’s not working at HHM. He gives Chuck a few side glances. Also, Mike refers to Nacho as “Ignacio Varga”. I suppose “Nacho” is sort of a nickname for “Ignacio”. Sounds familiar to me…oh well…great reaction!

Tim Martin

You guys gotta start calling Saul Jimmy though😂 it took me a while to start doing it but now even when I rewatch breaking bad, I call him Jimmy

Erin

For the whole Chuck and Jimmy situation, I think Chuck just holds the law in such a high regard and he knows who his brother is and how he goes about things (think of the billboard situation) and he can’t stand that guy is a lawyer. No matter what Jimmy does for him. Their relationship is so complex, as is Chuck as a character. Your discussion was great btw!

Erin

That is Trevor and we do sort of know "Pryce." He was referred to in Breaking Bad, but very obscurely. "Danny" who owned the laser tag, I believe, refers to him.
