i think if you guys ever do a rewatch, you’ll see that there are groups of close friends around the three main pov characters (leckie, basilone, and sledge)! it’s just hard to decipher on the first watch because it’s a lot of guys in uniforms and helmets and they kind of blend. in real leckie’s memoirs, he’s known chuckler, runner, and hoosier since training.

He has enuresis it's a condition where your body can't hold urine in cuz it thinks you are always wet, kinda how when you get in the shower you get the urge to pee, except it's all the time cuz your mind can't tell if you are dry or wet

My Uncle Vince was a US Navy corpsman (medic) with Marines from Pelielu to Iwo Jima .. he NEVER talked about it ( most medics with Marines were Navy corpsmen)

I hope you watch the intros, they had the same ones like BOB but you also had tom hanks narrating explaining the situation and showing actual combat footage. https://youtu.be/PzZnLNCCsXI?si=DoGokmeYVTrmVA4A I highly recommend watching them before the episodes they add so much and you get to know the vets

Pavuvu was an island that became the rest and recuperation zone for many marine divisions, mainly the 1st marine division. When it was chosen, it was only flown over. So when the marines from Cape Gloucester arrived, they found out it was just a swampy mess. Full of rotten coconuts, rats, and land crabs. So instead of resting, they had to literally build an area to live out of the swamp. Moving rotten coconuts by the thousands(imagine the smell), having to build roads using crushed coral, and living out of tents surviving the thousands of rats and land crabs that got into everything.
