Sure, he has his reasons but he basically left his friend to die, and even though part of him wanted to tell Gi-hun to pick another shape, he decided not to.

I did love how this episode gave us a sneak peek at the structure behind the game. Everything is so meticulously organized! The detective is doing a great job blending in so far, thank goodness for those masks, otherwise, it’d be game over already. Do you guys have a favorite character yet? Mine so far is the girl with the pocket knife. Can’t wait for the next episode! 🙌

I was worried they were going to say we told you to get the shapes out, but they didn't tell them to eat them it seems the method wasn't important, it was whether they came out perfectly. So they were not concerned about the lighter. Also, if the gamers didn't know the cookies were made out of sugar they may have not tried to lick them. This is another way a player could trick someone by to gain the upper hand by saying they saw something they didn't.
