The Haunting of Hill House Episode 10 Reaction

Comments

I don’t know why it took you guys so long to believe Abigail was real

Owen Nicholson

lmao your broken necks at the start

Marc S

Midnight Mass to me is the best in the Series. I cannot wait for them to watch that.

Lou Dryka

That’s Abigail’s grandmother, Mr. Dudley’s mom that worked and died at Hill House.

Indeed, you’re totally right about the seeds of doubt being planted, like most of the characters saying Abigail is imaginary. I equate this type of storytelling or character development to Ramsey Bolton in GOT—when the character is first introduced reactors are constantly wondering who Ramsey is, but the show often showed either the Bolton’s sigil of the flayed man ❌ placed somewhere in the background or Roose Bolton mentioning his bastard son right before a scene with Ramsey torturing Theon. Very clever.

Abigail wore a blue dress because the family is very conservative and religious and so they do not vary their clothing. Abigail was ALWAYS alive until the last night. There is no timey wimey stuff going on with that. She was in different clothes on the final night because she was in Theo's clothes. Luke asked for clothes for her aka Pajamas. The timey wimey stuff relates to death and Nell who is operating on different times at the same time. Anyone alive perceives time as linear besides Olivia who doesn't actually experience time shifts but Visions which are completely different.

Word on the street is that the lady who holds Abigail's hand is Mrs. Hill in her younger, human form.

Darth Sckolar

Yeah there is nothing to substantiate this claim. The history of the house goes before this. And if we freeze it at that time period, William could be called the first victim.

Darth Sckolar

Believe it or not, after watching many many reactions....this seems to be the default position among people. And as I rewatch it, I notice how well the story layers doubt in the viewers mind while dropping hints. Some scenes mentioning Abigail are immediately followed by other scenes that call what the viewer watches into doubt. Conversely, Abigail wears near the exact shade of blue as Mrs.Dudley. And this happens constantly through the show. It's masterfully done.

Darth Sckolar

The Expanse, please!

Keith Coleman

It's Bly Manor next don't let anyone tell you different.

thebirdcatcher1

It's interesting how they won't believe Abigail was real the entire time. Her clothing (the blue dress) is retro just like her mother's clothing. They repeated clothes and were old, not modern. The only time Abigail's ghost appeared was when she died after drinking the poison.

Itss_NattyJ

Would loove to see you guys react to The Fall of the House of Usher

Emily P

Same! For some reason it was driving me nuts every time Pudge said "Polly".

Itss_NattyJ

Bly Manor next please!

Hakan E

One important thing to remember about Poppy (not Polly) is that she is first a victim of the house as well. She and Olivia had a very mirrored story. She was a mental ill individual who was preyed upon by the house when she moved in by way of her thoughts and fears of her children. The only difference is Olivia was driven to death in just a few weeks where Poppy was alive in there for decades. She is perceived as a malicious spirit because that was her state of mind when she died, again as Olivia. Both are used as tools by the house at the end, which is why once the story is over Poppy is just seen as an observant ghost

Maybe at Easter time you guys can react to another Mike Flanagan series Midnight Mass. I just watched it for the first time this past week after watching Bly Manor and Hill House this October. I had only seen The Fall of the House of Usher and Doctor Sleep (sequel to "The Shining") before. Those were my only experiences with Flanagan's work.

Carrie Smith

Probably because they've been watching Peaky Blinders. I noticed that on the last one. Poor crazy Poppy, lol.

Carrie Smith

Please do Bly Manor next!

Amy Pond

Also, yes, Spartan was also right that the dad was a ghost. He was already a ghost when he opened the Red room. Sometimes, it just is what it is.

Amy Pond

Spartan’s initial guess was the correct one. Abigail was alive same as Luke was and they along with Nelly were being poisoned by their mother. Except the twins didn’t drink the tea so they survived. Abigail was the only one who drank the tea and so she’s the only one who died. That’s why the Dudleys said nothing about mom’s death.

Amy Pond

🤣🤣 I shuddered a little every time y’all said “Polly.”

F.O.T. Snax (Michelle)

Really loved these reactions/discussion guys! I also would have major interest in seeing more Flanagan shows on the channel as others have suggested. Especially Midnight Mass!

Sam A

He made a promise to Olivia... that he would "keep forever". He stayed there for her, because she didn't want to be alone, as she said.

Oriana Lo Presti

Great series but we gotta getcha on the GOATIEST of all the GOATS.....The Sopranos.

Johnny_Raincloud

Thanks for the 10 episodes guys! I’ll keep an eye on your channel hoping to see Midnight Mass at some point. Love your commentary by the way. Great job.

FearsomeKitten

I looove this series and all the Mike Flanagan shows. I hope you’ll consider reacting to more from him in the future.
