Every time I watch episode 10 I'm filled with happiness and pride. One of my favorite shows of all time. I'm glad you both enjoyed it.

Surviving a war doesn't change that reality or guarantee that you will die in your bed at 95 surrounded by your loved ones. ;) Yes, Winters' rank is higher than Sobel's, the dynamic of the scene makes it obvious. You don't address a superior officer the way Winters did - that would be some serious disrespect and insubordination! The entire point of the scene is that Winters is now in position to humiliate him - if he chooses.
