I don't seek out horror at all either, but here the horror is elevated by the writing, it has a poetic quality, there is a strong psychological and emotional element. It'll make you scratch your head. I enjoyed watching you trying to piece everything together!

2024-09-02 06:04:01 +0000 UTCSometimes I hate when people advise reactors to pay attention to the background in these series within the Flanoverse (director is Mike Flanagan, creates great horror/dark love stories and family dramas in every show he works on and uses the same actors over and over, like Ryan Murphy). BUT def check out any of the YouTube videos that spot all the different things happening in the background, once you're finished with Hill House. It's mind-blowing. Loved this reaction, guys!

Minor ask but going forward, is there a way to have the subtitles that only show dialog but don't describe sounds or attribute the dialog to characters? I'd much rather you guys hear the sound for yourselves than the subtitles telegraphing that [the floor is creaking] even before you've realized it, etc.

Saying its a horror is a bit one-track, because the horror elements are moreso just the vehicle to tell a family drama story, which is the core of the show (imo), and then the mystery aspect goes hand in hand with the horror which I think is most of the fun (theorising and speculating about the ghosts, what’s real/not real, why this all happens in the first place etc.)
