It's a great series, I would suggest finding it somewhere for cheap then come back and watch it along, it's worth it in my opinion 👍

Samuek

No sound on the movie 😥 I have red why, but I don't have access to band of brothers myself, so I'll just have to imagine the sound then 😊

Morten Henningsen

Hitler made it easy by declaring war on the United States a few days after the Pearl Harbor attack.

Stephen Knueppel

Cross of Iron is an excellent movie about the fighting in Russia and it's told from the German viewpoint

Another fantastic pick to watch. Let’s see how incredibly wrong Spartan can be about everything with Band of Brothers. Hi Spartan, love Fuzzy.

Fuzzy Dunlop

One of my favorite series, can't wait for the rest.

Chops

Eyyy, one of my favorite series of all time, such good. Happy to watch with y’all :)

Important piece of info to note: The group of soldiers you saw write letters to the Major due to Winter's court-martial, wasn't a unique unit, but the entirety of Easy Company's Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs). The military is split between the regular Enlisted soldiers (non-commissioned) and Officers (commissioned). Commissioned Officers are typically college educated and have undergone leadership training before they officially join their unit as a Lieutenant. Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) are experienced soldiers who have risen through the ranks of the Enlisted. Easy Company is split between several smaller squads, each led by an NCO, their Sergeant(s). Sergeants are truly the ones who soldiers look to for leadership and combat experience. They're the ones leading their squads on the frontlines. So the scene you see there is quite consequential. A company commander rejected by all his NCOs would be unfit for combat. Officers typically heed the advice of their more experienced soldiers, their NCOs. They are the glue of the company.

I vote for the Pacific after this. I can't remember the other series you mentioned, I have not seen it. I believe i purchased the Pacific along with the Vietnam war documentary. They are both very good.

Lyn Hurst

Yes, I recall our assisting the allied troops, but not directly engaging until late in the War. My mom's father shipped out to Okinawa in late 1943 when my mom was only 10 months old. My grandmother was afraid my mom would never know her father as she feared he may not come back. My grandfather wanted to go to war.

Lyn Hurst

True. It was also a sense of duty and patriotism that was passed down from fathers who had served in WWI to their sons, who then felt compelled and duty bound to serve in WWII. And if you didn’t feel that way, you were almost shunned into it. Most of the time.

You guys should 100% react to The Pacific after this, especially since you're Aussies and it gives more background into Australia's contribution to the war. It's almost as good as BoB, which means it's still amazing

Our boy Spartan knows, time is a flat circle.

I never saw in the beginning they guy getting the mohawk haircut before they jump. That would be Jake "McNasty" McNiece the leader of the Filthy 13 a legendary Airborne Anti-Hero.. The Fat Electrician has an awesome video about him here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucJDzgc8_cI&t=138s&pp=ygUMamFrZSBtY25hc3R5

With regards to the court martial of Winters, it really did happen, there’s actually a copy of the letter Winters signed online. The general consensus is that Sobel tried to reprimand Winters as a sort of ‘power play’ to show the company who was boss because after the fence debacle Sobel could sense he was losing the men whereas Winters had the full respect of the company. Winters essentially called Sobel’s bluff, as the chargers he was brought up on were ridiculous and trumped up and this essentially caused Sobel’s downfall. Love the video as always 👊🏻

I would very much love to see you react to The Pacific. Its an excellent series. Its just really hard to beat Band of Brothers is all. It also deals with the pacific theater of war, which the majority of World War 2 movies and shows do NOT cover. This was a crucial, violent and deadly and extremely hard fought part of the war and its also very different from the European theater of the war so I think its really important for people that don't know much about this time period to also see this show. Something eventually covering the Russian battle in Stalingrad against the Germans or some such would also be great eventually. Then you have the 3 major theaters of war covered that are the most famous and you get a well rounded understanding. I can't think of a particularly good one for that off the top of my head. I really enjoy Enemy at the Gates which is a pretty well liked film, but its more dramatization than striving to be historically accurate but I think it did a good job depicting the nature of that war for the soldiers and civilians in it, as well as the devastation to the city and everyone.

We were already actively engaged in providing additional supplies to Allied forces. PH was the straw that broke the camels back essentially.

SuddenImpulse

I am soooo excited to watch this again and with you guys for the first time!!!

SuddenImpulse

I love that every time Pudgey has one of her laughing fits, Spartan just sits there patiently like 🙂

They did a great job of showing how willing the US was ready to go to war after we were attacked at Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. I am guessing since we were willing to go to war to defend our own territory and people in the Pacific, we decided to also declare war on the other Axis powers, at the time Germany and Italy. In addition we began to realize how awful Hitler's grip was on Europe and our wanting to help our allies in GB, France, Russia to prevent Nazi Germany from taking over. When the US got involved in Korea and Vietnam, it was a very different story. Many people did not see those wars as belonging to the US as we were not directly attacked. But we did want to stop communism and that was the big thing.

Lyn Hurst

LFG!

Katie Thomas

Damn...just hearing that intro music puts me into a somber mood. I'm so glad you're watching this.

John Neiberger

I haven't clicked play yet, but from the thumbnail alone, I can tell by the look on Spartan's face and Pudgey laughing hysterically that I am going to enjoy this intro.

Paul De'Armond

so excited for you guys to see this...Spartan I hope you're ready...get ready for some absolute legends, beasts and weapons!!!!

Guy-on-Couch

Band of Brothers is some of the best television that has ever been made. It will give you a new outlook on, and respect for the generations that came before you. The Pacific is definitely worth the watch as well, and a couple of those episodes take place in Australia.

Rachel Taylor

Nice. I was hoping this would be coming soon. It's been a long time since I watched this, so it's gonna be great to watch this again.

crispy chicken

So excited to watch this show again with you guys. One of the best and most impactful series I've ever seen.
