Django Unchained [2012] Movie Reaction

Comments

You guys definitely need to do kill bill next(1&2). I guarantee you'll absolutely love it. The action and fighting scenes, the film style, the plot, all amazing!

Katerina Bumbaris

True Grit. The remake. Is awesome.

Demented Avenger

'Over the top' is Quentin Tarantino's directorial style motto.

DominaZeta

Tarantino movies you gotta watch, obviously the kill bill saga, from dusk till dawn, inglorious bastards, resovoir dogs, pulp fiction

Omar Cornelio

we did, but it was unlike anything we've ever seen before so we talked about how wild the style was

CpaSpartan Pudgey

Haven't watched the reaction yet but I'm confused by the comments. Did they like the movie or nah

Julien

Part of it is probably that they have seen very few films in general, so a lot of the things he is referencing will be lost of them. That said Tarantino films are also just kinda eccentric/weird by general standards so might not be everyones cup of tea. I really like some of his work and don't like some of it at all, so mileage may vary.

SuddenImpulse

To fully enjoy the tarentino genre you have to understand that most of what he pours into his films is his love and appreciation for older style films, he worked at a video store as a kid and absorbed a little of everything from the films he watched. The humor comes from his script writing which is heavy on the “random” long conversations that can be described as “realistic” like the entire scene of the kkk arguing about the bags not being made well. His movies dont go fully into one genre and the plots arent always “complete” but the real fulfillment from his films is found in the scripts and the back and forths. I think spartan would highly enjoy the kill bill films but another recommendation would be The Hateful Eight. Again, another “weird” one, you wont find life changing stories like interstellar but you will find enjoyment in the “meat” of the films.

Zero

In response to your confusion of what you felt watching this, as others have said….. the genre is quite simply: Terentino.

Zero

It’s not really comedy, although there is humor to it. I think you were just caught off guard by the style. The first time I saw Pulp Fiction it was like wait what just happened. Now that you get the style I think you’d like his other movies. Inglorious Bastards and Pulp Fiction to start.

Cody Sutton

that's fair enough Miguel! we are too new to know yet but can definitely understand that. the movies (well this one that we saw) are very unique and eccentric and can just depend if it's your vibe or not

CpaSpartan Pudgey

It’s literally just a Tarantino movie; quite literally its own genre. Glad you got to watch, like Christopher Nolan, there are a handful of his movies that are must see. Look forward to you watching them down the road. Pulp Fiction likely being the next one.

BigTim86

All of Tarantino's movies are quite violent, which doesn't bother me personally. I think ya'll are trying to describe dark humor. All Tarantino movies have a decent bit of humor and all of them are violent, though Django Unchained along with Inglorious Bastards are probably the ones that deal with the most serious historical material.

Jesse

It's definitely an unpopular opinion.

Don

Tarantito has many that like his films and many that don't I don't think its an unpopular take. His movies are more on the eccentric/weird side and thats going to be liked differently depending on the person and sometimes the movie.

SuddenImpulse

I think he's somehow even better in Inglorious Basterds, such a great recommendation!

Lara Amaro

Unpopular opinion, but Im gonna say it anyway. I dont like Tarantino movies. The only one I can think of that I kind of like is Inglorious Bastards.

Miguel

I feel Rango deserves a spot on the animation poll just for this intro alone.

K

Oh and schultz is in it and is amazing too

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

Absolutely loved this reaction! I would highly recommend Inglorious Bastards (my favorite Tarantino movie!) if you had fun with his style

Agent September 🏴‍☠️

Interesting fact: You mentioned the blood on Leonardo’s hand. He actually accidentally cut himself on the glass during that scene!

Sadie

This movie was great for variety. Cool! Great movie too ofc

K

Tarantino movies are very unique. They all have this same kind of action heavy, gory, over the top humour. The cheesy action effects are on purpose because he's paying homage to the old Hollywood movies he grew up watching that didn't have access to CG. It's different lol

Cyan

This is a really difficult topic to tackle and in my opinion Tarantino absolutely killed it. If he did the movie with this story and brushed over the worst part of slavery it wouldnt have been nearly as good. I will link a short clip where Jamie Foxx talks about Tarantino setting him straight regarding his character and you can tell he really respects him and was happy to be part of this production. He has a very unique style of moviemaking, even if you dont know whats the movie you can tell its a Tarantino movie. He loves to construct his shots and let the camera linger much longer than other directors, they would have cut away 3 times by now but his scene is still there, evolving. His dialogues are very natural and witty thats why they're so engaging and the way he writes characters is phenomenal. That man has created some iconic characters so far. His movies tend to be on the long side becasue, nothing ever feel rushed because good characterwork takes time. Christoph Waltz was absolutely brilliant in his movie, that guy is a terrific actor every role I have seen him was outstanding. Samuel Jackson's was a surprise but he was great as usual. I believe Will Smith turned down the role of Jango and I am very happy for that, Jamie Foxx killed it. Also, he looked very natural on horseback as he is from Texas an has been riding horses since he was a kid. That man is stupidly talented either in acting, singing, whatever he does and he is a brilliant storyteller. I highly recommend you guys watch some more Tarantino, you will not regret it and they are very entertaining and a lot of fun. Inglorius Basterds, Once upon a time in Hollywood, Pulp Fiction are some of the "starter" movies you should watch before you get to the more advanced stuff. :) @Spartan: I believe they wished you good luck with the editing due to the excessive use of the N word. :) @Pudgey : people back then were chweing tobacco which was brown and made them salivate a lot hence the projectile spit lol As for cowboy movies Tarantino has the Hateful Eight but if you want something else Unforgiven is always a solid choice. If you want a bit more light hearted than True Grit ( 2010, Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges ) or Maverick ( ( 1994, Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster ) are pretty fun to watch. this is the clip I mentioned, not only its a fun tidbit but his impersonation is spot on : https://youtu.be/7K8j55V3Lvw Fun vid as usual guys, thank you.

neutchain

Rango is really good, you should watch it too lol

Nicholas R Huber

Y'all will love Kill Bill if you liked this one

crookedspin

MUST do this one day!!!

CpaSpartan Pudgey

It was smart of Django to say King wouldn’t help reimburse Calvin and save the man who was up in the tree. Calvin was immediately suspicious of King after he offered to reimburse him for the slave. Why would this man have sympathy for a slave when he’s working with slave fighting? Django relieved that suspicion when he said they wouldn’t do it

TallTyrionLannister

Banger movie and reaction guys! You guys should react to Children of Men. Not many channels have done it.

Kj

Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds is a must after this, Dr Schultz's actor is in it and also kills his role but in a whole different way

Avery Kenner

He definitely has a unique style to his films...they aren't all the same format but you could always be sure of a few things with him...Gore, Swearing, Amazing dialog...and feet hahaha OH and the Australian guy with the Dynamite was Quentin Tarantino...he shows up in a lot of his movies

Guy-on-Couch

Tarantino is brilliant...my fav director...he's also written some banger movies too like True Romance....please watch more Tarantino!!!

Guy-on-Couch

Pudgey you and spartan should come on down to Texas get some life changing BBQ and get spartan a custom made cowboy hat 🤠 YEEHAWWWW !!

OnePastyBoii

OnePastyBoii
